Gifts for the Woman Who Loves Beauty Gadgets

Do you have a beauty gadget lover on your gift list this year? I’m a huge fan of doing things at home rather than paying salon or esthetician prices… over and over. You invest in the tool once and have it to use repeatedly. These aren’t as powerful as the ones your dermatologist or medispa uses, but over time can get similar results.

I bought my first epilator 15 years ago. It finally gave up the ghost so I upgraded to this new and improved version last year. Next, I got a Clarisonic which I love but my skin is even more fragile these days so I just ordered the Foreo to try.

There seems to be a gadget for everything. Here’s some popular ones-

1- Braun Silk Epil 9 Womens Epilator. It comes with several attachments, including one for the face. I love this. It stings a bit but I only need to use it once every 3 weeks and the hair grows back in finer and thinner. I haven’t tried the face one yet – I’ll keep you posted. For now, I’m just using it on my underarms and legs.

2- SpectraLite Faceware Pro. Uses red and blue LED light therapy to smooth the skin, kill bacteria and build collagen. Interesting idea because so many spas are using light therapy as part of their facials.

3- Dermaflash. Removes peach fuzz and exfoliates dead skin. This is the newest thing in face smoothing. I tried this one last summer and was underwhelmed.

4-Hairmax Laser Band 82 FDA approved device which uses medical grade lasers to stimulate hair growth. I am seriously intrigued…

5- iRestore Laser Hair Regrowth System  Clinically tested and FDA-cleared hair loss treatment and medical device for treating alopecia, receding hairline, balding & thinning hair to stimulate hair regrowth for men and women. The reviews on this are amazing.

6- iluminage TOUCH Permanent Hair Reduction System. Permanent hair removal at home.

1- Nuface Trinity Face Toning System. FDA-cleared handheld device for facial stimulation with the same microcurrent technology used in top spas, medical offices.

2- BeautyBio GloPRO Microneedling Tool. Red LED light therapy and VibroTactile Stimulation work synergistically to enhance regenerative skin benefits. I’m really happy with my manual derma roller but this has pretty good reviews.

3- Tria SmoothBeauty Laser. FDA-cleared, clinically proven laser treatment uses Non-Ablative Fractional Laser Technology to stimulate collagen production in the same way that professional, in-office laser treatments do, but at a fraction of the cost.

4- LightStim LED Light Therapy. FDA cleared red light device designed to help reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, restore your skin’s youthful appearance and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. My wrinkles are deeper than “fine” but I am curious.

5- PMD Microderm Pro Device. Microdermabrasion device uses patented spinning disc technology with calibrated vacuum suction to brighten, smooth and even skin tone and texture. This one definitely intrigues me.

I love my epilator and am seriously interested in these hair growth devices – too little hair in one place and too much in others 🙂 The joys of menopause keep on giving.

I would like to hear more about all of this – particularly how to get rid of peach fuzz, how to best exfoliate face, does the laser light thing help?, etc… do these hair regrowth things work? Are there downsides?

I think that’s why we are seeing so many of machines. I haven’t read if downsides but there are tons of reviews to get through

Keep us posted on the FOREO. I was reading up on them on LovelySkin.com last night. I have used a Clarisonic Mia for at least 8-10 years, but now that my skin is drier, I was curious about something a little more gentle.

The gentleness was why I ordered it. I’ll let you know after it arrives

I have always shaved my legs with a razor. Thank goodness my leg hair grows slower now that I am 60. However your post prompted me to look at my beauty tool stash and I have a brand new never out of the box PMD personal microdermabrasion tool. I bought it about 3 years ago. Life happened. I stored it away. Now that I have a stable living situation I can play. I will let you know if it was worth the $150 I paid ????

Please do let me know Lee. I’ve been very curious about that one.

What do you think about the trend in women shaving their faces? It seems a little drastic! I’d might try the epilator to get rid of the peach fuzz.

I’ve tried shaving. It’s quick and easy but then I cut my chin ???? I’m going to try the epilator and see
