My Favorite Cashmere For Fall
My favorite season is here…cashmere season. I’m an equal-opportunity cashmere lover and own many brands at all price points. My collection got ravaged by moths several seasons ago, which broke my heart, so I had to replace many. Now, I store all my sweaters in these lightweight, clear garment bags so I can see what I have, but the moths can’t feast on it. Today, I’m sharing my favorite cashmere for fall. The price points vary, as does the quality, but it’s hard to go wrong with any cashmere, in my book.
I love wearing cashmere because wool is often itchy and too warm for my mild Northern California climate. I can wear cashmere almost year-round because it breathes, and I don’t feel overheated wearing it.
Favorite Budget Cashmere For Fall
Let’s start with my favorite affordable cashmere, which is from Quince. They produce amazing quality sweaters for a fraction of what other companies charge. In fact, everything I’ve bought from them has been fantastic, so they’re one of my preferred go-to brands. They are committed to sustainability and only partner with factories that meet or exceed global guidelines for workplace safety and equitable wages.
Quince Cashmere V-Neck Sweater
My first dip into their cashmere was with this $50 Cashmere sweater. This V-neck comes in 14 colors this season, but sadly, not this pale blue. Hopefully, they will bring it back. This sweater is made from 12 gauge, 100% Grade-A Mongolian cashmere sourced from goats in Inner Mongolia and is incredibly soft. I have this sweater in four colors, and a fifth is on the way.
I also have several of their $50 cashmere crew neck sweaters, which come in 18 colors. These hold up beautifully, and I have never seen any brand beat this price.
Quince Cashmere T-shirt
I love the sweaters so much that I decided their Cashmere Tee would be a great wardrobe basic, and they are. They’re a perfect layering piece or great on their own all year long. I now own three of these and couldn’t love them more. They come in 14 colors this season, and at $44.90, they’re less than half the price of the J. Crew cashmere tee that looks identical.
Quince Mongolian Cashmere Oversized Boyfriend Cardigan Sweater
I can’t believe I don’t have a better photo of this cashmere cardigan, considering I have worn this puppy on constant repeat since I bought it last fall. I was so grateful that I took it to Canada this summer because June was really cold, and I wore it almost daily! It comes in 11 gorgeous colors, and at $139.90, there will definitely be another color in my wardrobe this fall.
Favorite Mid-Priced Cashmere For Fall
Nordstrom Brand Crewneck Sweater
Nordstrom carries their own brand of cashmere. The signature line and their more affordable line. They make different colors every year and are a great quality cashmere. I bought this lavender during the anniversary sale, but sadly, it sold out fast.
They also make a V-neck here and a turtleneck here. I love all three styles, and the prices are great.

Favorite Luxury Cashmere For Fall
Vince Weekend V-Neck Cashmere Sweater
I kept hearing how great Vince cashmere is, so when they went on sale last fall, I bought this black V-neck and an oatmeal-colored one. (It was right after the moth feast, so I had a lot of sweaters to replace. It’s a teeny bit thicker than the Quince cashmere and fabulously soft. Vince also makes a wool/cashmere blend, but I found them itchy and prefer the pure cashmere. They do pill eventually, but it takes much longer than on the less expensive kinds of cashmere.
Jenni Kane Cashmere Fisherman Sweater
I’d read so many glowing reviews about this particular Fisherman sweater that I sprang for one when they were marked way down last year during their Black Friday sale. When the box arrived, I fully expected to send it back…until I touched it. It’s the softest cashmere I have ever felt in my life. I tried it on, and that was it. I could not send it back.
All cashmere pills, and any brand that tells you theirs won’t, is lying. I’ve worn this sweater multiple times and can report that it takes many, many wearings for the tiniest pill to begin forming on this sweater. Longer than any other cashmere I own. I swear by this Gleener and sweater shaver to remove pills I do get on my cashmere.
FYI- You can sign up on the widget below to be notified when Jenni Kane is having a sale. That’s how I got mine.
Are you a fan of cashmere?
I love Quince! I have 2 of their merino wool v neck in medium and a cotton cashmere in small. I’m 5′ 1″ 108 lbs. They are the perfect length. I read the reviews to try to determine what size to order and if in doubt I order small and medium, then return the one i don’t want. Their customer service is awesome! You can’t beat free shipping and free returns. I have several cashmere sweaters, different brands. I’m going to order one from Quince next!
I love their cashmere
I went to the Jenni Kayne website but it doesnāt seem to be offering a 20% discount? Is it over? Thanks
Yes it just ended. They will do it again around Black Friday.
Oooh, I love cashmere. I ordered a TShirt in Sapphire. Itāll be perfect for work. What a great price. I cannot wait for it to arrive.
You will love it!
Jennifer, you look like a petite lady. I am also quite petite at 5’1″ tall and 102 lbs. The quince $50 cashmere sweater looks so good on you, but when I purchased it, it was huge! I had to send it back. On you it seems to fit beautifully. Did you shrink it?
Oh no! At 5ā4ā, Iām at the tall end of petite. I am however, 42 pounds heavier than you and the medium fits me perfectly. Did you try the XS?
In your opinion do the Quince cashmere v neck and crew neck sweaters fit similar to Lord and Taylor size wise? Thanks, Karen
I’m sorry, I haven’t worn the Lord and Taylor so I can’t compare. I wear a medium in both the Nordstrom brand and the Quince.
I can’t find size info on Quince. Are they sized for petite? Are any of the other brands? Usually buy Talbots because of petite availability. Would love another source.
Quince does not carry petite. I’ll keep my eye open for other sources for you.
Love cashmere but always found it quite pricy. I really like how the Quince v neck looks. I might check out their website. Those prices are way cheaper than Chicos cashmere when they have them.
I wish I could wear cashmere. I know some wool-sensitive people say it’s doable but not for me. The closest I can get is a pair of cashmere gloves that I can take off quickly if they start to bother me. (Can’t rip off the pullover in public if itching starts!)
I used to be that sensitive but luckily something has changed and now I can wear it.
Cashmere is so cool. I love the feel but cannot wear it. No wool or rabbit either..
If I wait 7 years, maybe my body chemistry will change and I will not itch anymore. That would make me 80, but worth the wait. (Heard that ever 7 yrs. Your body changes)
Thank you for the post Jennifer such lovely sweaters. I look out for VInce in the Nordstrom sales and Quince has wonderful pieces and cotton sweaters which my daughter loves. I hope you had a lovely vacation!
I love cashmere and have quite a few of Talbots’ “Audrey” style which I like a lot in Petite sizes (purchased when they have good sales!). Really want some with long sleeves, though, rather than 3/4 so I can’t wait for my new Quince which i ordered 2 days ago through AWSL. Hope the fit is good for me (5’2″) as I intend to get more.
I am so impressed with Quince as well. I would like to order about ten of their v-necks and crew necks. Love the tips about the bags and the depiller! I am ordering now! This was a great commentary on what is available at all price points. I always say you are the best teacher!
Youāre the best my friend.
I believe your posts was what got me started on Quince. Love their cashmere and the price point is perfect for my budget. I have two and am planning on adding more colors.
Iām so glad you found them
I too, love the Quince cashmere sweaters and have them in several colors. I put them away in a vinyl plastic zippered pouch like sheets come in to keep the moths away. I purchased the sweater comb from Quince for the pills and it works okay.
Good to know Judy!
I bought cedar blocks and store them in the bags with my cashmere. It works great!
Love the dragonfly scarf! Where did you get it?
Thanks and happy Autumn!
It was $5 out of a sale basket at a tiny boutique
Hi, Jennifer! Just found your blog from one of your YouTube videos…and I have to say, I just love your style! Thank you for all the great ideas…I will definitely check out Quince, as well as the garment bags, gleener, and fabric shaver! It really helps to know how to take care of cashmere, since it can be pricey! Have a wonderful autumn day š

Welcome Sofi! Iām so glad you joined us!
All these cashmere sweaters looked fabulous! I’ve always purchased mine from Nordstrom and I’ve lost a few from moths also. This Quince brand really looks so great, I’m going to check it out for sure. As always you give us the best info!!
Theyāre a great company. I love their cashmere.
What size in Quince are you wearing?
Iām wearing a medium.
Thank you!
Thanks for these recommendations as sweater season is headed our way. Can you comment about the sizing on the Jenni Kayne sweater? Their size chart would put me into the L range, but most Large sweaters are too big for me. Thanks!
I own a large but remember, I have very broad shoulders which shortens the sleeve length
Thank you for the info on Quince. Iāve seen their ads but knew nothing about them. Iāll be ordering from them. Also the info on the garment bags. I need to get some. Do you hang your sweaters?
Yes. I hang them on flocked hangers inside those garment bags. That way I remember what I have and donāt forget to wear them!
Living in upstate New York, cashmere is the perfect 3 season fabric! Always on the hunt for cashmere sweaters at a good price point. Found quince last year and love both the crewneck and v neck. How can you beat the $50 price point! The three I have held up well and have hardly any pills. Also love nordstrom brand- go on sale from time to time if you keep watch. This time of year check your local Marshall’s and tjmaxx. They sometimes have a few-have had great luck with the Tahari brand purchased there. Hardly any pills. Jennifer, love some of your other suggestions!
I love your sunglasses.
Really cool frameā¦
Have a good Thursday !

Good Morning – Really enjoyed all of your ways of wearing Cashmere sweaters today. I am a big fan of Quince. Great Quality and Great Customer Service. Also loved your Jenni Kane Cashmere Fisherman Sweater. I plan to check that out!!
Like you- I adore cashmere! The Quince sweaters you’re featuring look far more expensive than this price indicates. Amazing!
