SensorilĀ® Brand Ashwagandha For More Restful Sleep and Stress Relief

This post has been sponsored by SensorilĀ® through Maverick Mindshare. All opinions are my own.

The list of supplements I take is ever-changing and growing as I age. One of the ones that has stayed constant in my regime for the past seven years is Ashwagandha. I take it every day and have for years. So, when Maverick Mindshare reached out to ask if I was interested in trying supplements with the SensorilĀ® brand ashwagandha, I knew it was a good fit for me.

Why I Take Ashwagandha

I began taking it back in 2015 after I attended a meditation and holistic health conference. I’d just fallen and cracked my femur in two places, and the resulting stress felt off the charts. During that conference, I visited with an Ayurvedic medicine doctor several times for a health workup. Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world’s oldest holistic (whole-body) healing systems that’s focused on bringing the body into balance to improve your health. She recommended I take Ashwagandha to lower my stress, so I chose one at random and have taken it ever since.

What is Ashwagandha

Without getting too technical, ashwagandha is an herb that has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for over 2,000 years. It’s an adaptogen, meaning that it helps your body respond and adapt to stress, which, over time, helps to lower cortisol levels. I think of cortisol as the stress hormone, so I know that reducing it helps with anxiety. It also supports cognitive health by reducing the body’s stress response, and when you’re feeling less stressed, you sleep better.

What is SensorilĀ® Brand Ashwagandha

What sets Sensoril brand ashwagandha apart from others is their “whole-plant” technology, which uses the roots and the leaves, which has been shown to provide a synergetic effect for optimal efficacy. The company has conducted numerous peer-reviewed, double-blind clinical trials that show benefits for lowering stress at the lowest serving size of 125mg in adults over 18. And since Sensoril has been on the market for over 15 years and is in over 400 products, I feel safe using it.

The older I get, the harder it is to get a good night’s sleep, especially with all the travel we’ve been doing lately. After reading how it can help support sleep, I’ve also started taking it at bedtime and find it does help me have a more restful night.

That’s my story with Ashwagandha and why I won’t be without it. I’m happy to find this Sensoril brand of the herb because I can now take a lower dose and smaller capsule…which, in my supplement handful, is a welcome advantage.

You can learn more about Sensoril here and see if it fits into your healthy lifestyle.

I found the products that contain this brand simply by searching on the internet using the term Sensoril ashwagandha. I’m sure your local pharmacy carries ashwagandha with the Sensoril brand, so if you read the ingredient list, you’ll find them.

Do you take ashwagandha?

Please refer to the serving size on the label and check with your physician or healthcare provider before adding new supplements to your diet.

  1. Although not a supplement per se, I’d like to recommend Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer Tea. One of the major ingredients in the tea is: Eleuthero – aka Siberian Ginseng. Used it for 15+ years before recent retirement. Drank the tea at my stressful job every day and could handle things so much easier. You don’t feel a thing and all you do feel is the ability to smile and handle whatever it is you need to handle. Also used NOW Rhodiola Rosea when needed. This particular brand gave me energy when fatigue set in and didn’t affect my sleep or cause anxiety. Just a few suggestions. Thank you for all that you do and advise upon. Cheers, Nan

  2. Hi Jennifer, I have a question for youā€¦ when I click on the link for a product you have recommended, do you automatically get credit? I know you have the buy me a coffee feature for those who read the blog but arenā€™t purchasing. I actually do purchase quite a few of your recommendations (my husband might say too many) but I have no clue if they credit back to you. ???
    Thanks!! Jo

    1. I get credit if you click through a link and make a purchase. If you click through my link, put something in your cart, then leave and click to the same vendor from another persons link, they get the credit. Thanks for asking and being so supportive!!

what a timely post! I just ordered based on your review, thank you for this, it was very much needed!!

  4. I have high blood pressure and my Doctor is very concerned when I take supplements. Many interact with prescription drugs one might be taking. I take Zinc Dailey but it makes my dear friend extremely nauseous. Beware of what you body can tolerate. What is ok for some, may not be right for others.

    1. Agreed, you should always check with your doctor

  5. I read lots of great things about ashwagandha and tried it. It made me feel agitated and anxious so I did a little more research on it. I found it is part of the “nightshade” plant family. I don’t tolerate eating foods from this family (i.e. eggplant, peppers, potatoes) and that’s why I didn’t have the favorable result from ashwagandha that I expected. Thought I’d mention this in case anyone else has a low tolerance for nightshades. It was a complete surprise to me that ashwagandha was part of it! I would love to be able to take it šŸ™‚

    1. Thanks for sharing that, Deborah. I has no idea either. Luckliy, I am ok with them.

  6. Hi Jennifer, I was wondering how the transmitter worked on your flight over to Portugal. You had bought a new one and I had been curious if it was worth the price.
I take ashwagandha as well, Iā€™ve been out for awhile and have noticed it!

    1. I forgot to pack it! The flights were so messed up, I just read and tried to nap.

  7. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I had not heard of it and want to try it. Stress has been off the charts for us here and I am now having sleep problems. Iā€™m going to try this and see if it helps.

    1. Please let me know if it helps you.

  8. Jennifer,
I have been try to find a Ayurvedic medical doctor. Do you have any suggestions about how to find one in the Sacramento or surrounding area?
    Thanks and enjoy your trip.

    1. I do not, that’s a tough one. Have you tried to google it?

  9. Amanda A. says:

Readers, please be careful with ashwagandha as it interacts with many medications. I have RA and have been specifically told NOT to take any supplements with it in it. Same goes for anyone w/ an autoimmune disease and taking medications for that. Very scary@

    1. I agree, everyone should check with their physician before adding any suppliments to their routine.

  10. Thatā€™s good to know about ashwagandha! People who experience anxiety should consider how much aspartame (artificial sweetener) they consume. New research is coming out (Google it) linking consumption of diet soda to anxiety and depression. The studies Iā€™ve seen say anxiety caused by aspartame can even be passed along genetically to a second generation.
For so many years we were assured, in study after study, that diet drinks and lo-cal foods were ā€œperfectly safe.ā€ From my own experience Iā€™m convinced there is something addictive in diet soda. I was able to break free of it about ten years ago. Lately, however, Iā€™ve started backā€¦.one small bottle or so per day. I think itā€™s time to put a stop to that!

    1. I had not read that about aspartame but I avoid it and will continue to do so.

Jennifer, I know you are always careful to check out supplements. Have you heard of ConsumeLab.com? I am a member and it is a great resource to double check various health concerns and supplements for safety, price and efficacy. The annual cost is not great.

    1. I had not heard of ConsumerLab. Thanks for sharing it I will check them out.

  12. This post convinced me to give it a try — these are all big issues for me. Thanks, Jennifer!

    1. Let me know how it goes for you, Beth. It really been helpful for me.

  13. What a coincidence. I just read recently about Ashwagandha and it’s been working well for us for sleep. The Sensorial brand sounds awesome. My husband is the one who’s is always looking into supplements so I’ll be sharing this with him. Thanks for the great info.

    1. My husband is taking it fit lot sleep too now

  14. Jennifer,
Do you or have you ever been on an SSRI ? I ask because I am on an SSRI for anxiety ( which I think has gotten worse as Iā€™ve gotten older ). Sometimes the anxiety isnā€™t bad, sometimes itā€™s a nuisance and sometimes itā€™s bigger than I am.
Just wondering if the effect of the ashwaganda is similar, better or worse than a SSRI ?

    1. I was on an SSRI many years ago but it didnā€™t agree with me and I immediately put on 20 pounds. Check with your dr before you add anything.
Have you tried breathing exercises for anxiety? I find them very very helpful. I do the 4-7-8 breath technique. Reg aerobic exercise helps too!

    1. I buy mine from Amazon too. If you just put Sensoril ashwagandha into the Amazon search lots should gone up.
