No-Iron Linen on Linen

Linen seems to be one of those fabrics that women either love or hate. They see it as an elegant natural fiber that’s cool to wear or a wrinkled hot mess they hate to be seen in. I fall closer to the love-it side, but it took some time for me to get there. I learned to “look beyond” the wrinkles because our new climate is so hot, there’s nothing cooler to wear. Today’s ootd is a casual no-iron linen outfit that’s dressed down and perfect for running errands and generally being fast on your feet.

Linen Pants

I found these linen pants during a dressing room diary and decided they needed to be mine. They come in 6 colors and one print, in misses, petite, women’s, and tall. I’m wearing a misses XS in navy, so I suggest you size down. The side zip, stretch fabric, and button detail on the leg is what sealed the deal for me. I picture them with my classic white linen blazer and white wedges when we can get dressed for dinner out, but for today, I’m dressing them down.

I didn’t immediately embrace sneakers for daywear, but now that I have, I doubt I’ll ever look back. You’re still not likely to catch me wearing gym shoes when not working out, but this a big step for me.

These textured platform sneakers are super comfy and give me a tiny height boost which I always appreciate. They got smudged the last time I wore them so I tried this sponge on them and was delighted to find it cleaned the canvas as well as the sides of the sole. I wouldn’t expect it to clean off a huge dirt mark, but the dusty one came off.

No-Iron Linen shirt

My friends at Chico’s sent me this no-iron linen shirt to try and I must say, it is crisper than other linen. Rather than iron, I use this handheld steamer to smooth my linen because I like the softer result and it seems to reduce wrinkling. I’ll keep you posted on how this no-iron fabric performs because I know their pants and shirts made from this fabric are very popular.

My white tee has elbow-length sleeves and a graceful scoop neckline. As much as I love V and scoop necklines, sometimes a good old ballet neck is the most user-friendly and maintains your modesty when you’re bending over. I like to tuck mine in but you could easily wear a half-tuck or leave it out all the way if you have longer legs than me:)

What side of the fence do you sit about linen?

  1. I liked the post about the stretch linen pants at JJill. Having never bought with them before, I looked at sizing and customer input as to how sizing runs and selected a small petite. I’m 5’3 ands 125# and this is a size that fits me often. I got the pants and liked the fit–thought it resembled how you were wearing–close fitting, but not tight or form fitting. I went to the store to find another color and the saleslady there talked me into rebuying a size smaller, that frankly stretches to fit and is form fitting. Which fit is the one that I want to have close fitting pants, but not tight or form fitting?
    Thanks, Debbie

    1. It’s personal preference Debbie, but if I’m wearing the regular XS at 5’4″ and 136 pounds, (which I am) then I would expect you would be best in the XS petite.

  2. I really don’t like the crushed linen look but would love to wear it for comfort and style, so non-iron sounds great!

The navy pants look fab and I need to move to wearing casual sneakers too. A mental shift 😊

  3. Outfit is lovely. You look so pretty and comfortable

  4. I love linen, especially natural coloured, and have lots of tops and jackets in my wardrobe. I just can’t resist it – in fact just bought a lovely heavily reduced white French linen shirt the other day. Not crazy about linen pants as usually too baggy in style but yours look like a great shape.

  5. I can’t find the post, but you recently (month or two ago?) posted that you had lost about 10 pounds. You’re looking svelte these days. What did you do? Please share!!
