Nordstrom New Arrivals: What Caught My Eye In Store and Online

I stopped by Nordstrom a few weeks ago and noticed the first early-cruise and summer pieces starting to appear. I tried on a few things to get a feel for what was coming for the new season.

As always, the store only shows a small portion of what they carry because the best ‘gems’ are usually hidden in the vast selection online, so I spent some time this week digging through Nordstrom’s newest drop for spring. I was happy to see that some of my favorite brands, like Eileen FisherNIC+ZOE, and Paul Green, have released some new arrivals that caught my eye.

SPLENDID DAHLIA QUILTED JACKET size S / CLASSIC TANK size M / ANGIE INDIGO PANTS size S

This lightweight, relaxed outfit from Splendid is perfect for the warm weather ahead. The pants feel as lightweight as chambray but are made from 100% lyocell and are machine-washable and machine-dryable. The drawstring is for show because they’re pull-on with an elastic waist. This quilted jacket is very lightweight, and the floral-patterned quilting adds no bulk. It has a front zip, which I left open.

ANGIE CROP WIDE LEG PANTS size S / STRIPED TEE size M

These pants are similar to the indigo pants above, but are made from a lyocell/linen blend, cropped, and come in 8 colors. They’re also easy care and very comfy. I paired them with this red-and-white striped tee. It’s body conscious, so I recommend going up a size or two. It also comes in navy and white.

CASLON COTTON GAUZE STRIPED SHIRT size S / CASLON WIDE-LEG LINEN PANTS size petite M

And then there was cotton gauze and linen… just hoping to go on a warm-weather vacation. This 100% cotton gauze shirt is a fabulous summer staple. It comes in 3 colors and is short enough to wear untucked or tied at the waist. The website says it runs large, but I didn’t find that true for me. These pull-on linen pants are available in regular and petite…which I took advantage of 🙂 They come in several other colors here, and a cropped version in 7 colors here.

Here’s what I found online:

NIC+ZOE

NIC+ZOE always does a great job of mixing polish with ease, and this season has quite a few finds worth looking at. Their Perfect Crewneck T-Shirt is exactly that. It has that just-right neckline that doesn’t gape or cling, which is harder to find than it should be. The Striped Boat Neck T-Shirt in bright green is such a fresh option for spring. The boat neckline subtly widens the shoulder line, which balances the hips beautifully, and the color is cheerful without being loud. The Topstitch Blazer adds structure but still feels soft and approachable. It’s tailored, but not stiff, which is my sweet spot these days.

For transitional layering, the Fringe Bomber Jacket is a fun little surprise. The fringe detail adds movement and personality without going overboard. It’s playful but still grown up. The Milano Jacket is more classic and incredibly versatile. It layers well and would look great over this Sleeveless Black Dress for an easy column of color. Add a statement necklace, and you’re done.

Eileen Fisher

It’s no secret that I have a soft spot for Eileen Fisher. The pieces are simple, high-quality, and sustainably made.

This Round Neck Denim Jacket is a standout. I love the collarless neckline for a change of pace. It lets you wear it over a collared shirt and flip the collar over the jacket. Paired with this Organic Cotton Button-Up (which I ordered), you have a great look with white jeans to wear now and on into the summer.

These Ankle Straight Leg Jeans are a true wardrobe staple. I have a pair from last spring with a slightly slimmer leg and have worn them repeatedly. This straight-leg is clean and modern, and the ankle-length pairs well with sneakers, flats, or sandals. I reach for mine all the time! They would be great with this short-sleeved Organic Cotton Sweater, which I tried on at the EF store this week. I styled it over this long-sleeve linen shirt and loved the look!

VIONIC

If your feet have opinions, Vionic is your friend. They have a great selection this year for spring. The Perforated Ballet Flat is a classic silhouette with a little added texture and breathability. It’s a great way to update your outfits to look more current this spring.

I’ve shared the Uptown Perf Penny Loafer before. This spring it comes in a soft blue, light pink, and gold. It’s an easy, everyday shoe to wear with most pants. The Uptown Metallic Suede Sneaker adds just enough shine to elevate a casual outfit, and the metallic works like a neutral. As we head into the spring and summer, I like to update my house shoes. The Slide Sandal is designed like a recovery shoe to provide extra support, but you may not want to wear it out in public.

PAUL GREEN

Paul Green is one of my favorite shoe brands. They’re an investment I’m willing to make because they’re so incredibly comfortable.

Open-weave shoes are very popular again this spring/summer, which I particularly appreciate because they put less pressure on my feet. This woven Dana Mary Jane comes in three colors and looks modern with an almond toe.

This Dottie Penny loafer landed right in my cart! The mix of textures makes it a fun piece to dress up simple chinos or white jeans. It comes in a darker combo, too.

This Darcy Platform Sandal looks super comfy, and the straps will keep it securely on your feet. Gripping to keep shoes or sandals on is a no-go for me now.

Other Things That Caught My Eye

Nordstrom always has a wide selection of handbags. Here are a few that caught my eye:

I know that a lot of you have trips or cruises planned. If you need a new swimsuit, you may want to try this one: Dreamsculpt Square Tank Swimsuit. It’s from this brand called Stylest that I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about. It has a good amount of coverage all around and compression that doesn’t make you feel like you can’t breathe.

This is also the time of year when Wit and Wisdom Jeans releases new styles and colors. Their fit technology tends to be forgiving and flattering, which I appreciate more every year.

I can always count on Nordstrom for the brands I love, so if your closet is craving a little refresh, it’s worth taking a look at their new arrivals and seeing what speaks to you.

Have you started to think about spring, or are you heading somewhere warm?

  1. Nice post today. Loved you in the blue linen pants.

  2. Is the linen pants’ fabric substantial enough so not see through?

    1. Yes, if I remember correctly, the white was lined.

  3. Love when in winter you feature warm-weather styles for those of us living year-round in resort climates. Hope to see more, as very few style bloggers tackle the topic. Example: in 10 years in Scottsdale AZ I rarely if ever have seen jeans, yet have fun styling white and medium-blue denim jackets from Chico’s.

    1. I’m working on one for warm weather now.

  4. It seems like winter is just hitting us now on the Island, just as I was thinking spring.

  5. We actually got about 20 minutes of rain this morning! Finally! It has been warm, in the 50-60s most of the winter. We have only gotten two snows. That isn’t good at all here in southern Colorado. Summer is going to be blistering hot so cotton gauze and linen are my go to fabrics. The Jean all get packed up for the season. I love my white Caslon linen pants! They are perfect for hot days.

    1. I agree, It’s great quality.

  6. Great look at Nordstroms early spring items. Really like the “linen” pull on pants. They look so comfortable yet classic.

    1. I’ve had a pair for years, they’re great!

  7. Pat Cowan says:

Jennifer, I remember in a recent column you mentioned having a pair of jeans from ARY (THE SECRET SAUCE IN CEAM) on order. I am not familiar with that company & was wondering how their product worked out for you. I like the look of their products. Thank you

    1. Mine have been delivered to California but I haven’t been back to pick them up yet. I’ll update you later next week when I finally get to try them on. I sure hope they fit!

  8. Hi Jennifer, the wrap at Nordstrom rack is stunning. Do you like the gray or the red color? Thanks for your thoughts all the best marie

    1. I’m into grays these days personal
