On My Radar – Fresh Green For Spring

Spring has arrived with all the exuberant colors that come with it. When Pantone revealed in December that Veri Peri (periwinkle) is their color of the year for 2022, I was thrilled. Sadly, manufacturers didn’t get the memo early, so I’m not finding much of it to buy. What’s I am seeing and loving is fresh green for spring.

My outfit of the week features a gauzy dress I wish I’d discovered before my trip to Mexico. No matter, it’ll be great for the warm summer months ahead.

Color pyscology.org says, “Out of all the colors on the color wheel, green is regarded as the most restful and relaxing color for the human eye. Green symbolizes harmony, tranquility, peace. As a soothing, relaxing color, it enhances stability and endurance. It is most often associated with growth and renewal, and it promotes optimism, hopefulness, and balance.”

BRIGETTE 360 SO SLIMMING PANTS IN ENVY GREEN

Green first hit my radar when I spotted these Brigette 360 pants at my local Chico’s in Envy green. This shade reminds me of “Fair Green” which is from Pantone’s Spring/Summer 2022 London Fashion Week Color Trends. It’s stronger than a pastel and seems neither too warm nor too cool.

My caftan may have been my first fresh green purchase, but it will not be my last. It looks great with black, white, navy, pink, yellow, denim, and on and on. In fact, I’m discovering that green makes a great base color to build many outfits around.

I went hunting for more fresh green for spring and here’s what I found:

KELLY GREEN RIVIERA SLIM PANTS

The Loft has lots of kelly green this spring.

J. Crew’s latest spring collection is out with lots of faded pistachio.

LACE-UP HOODIE

J. Jill has some green papaya this spring which I’m loving the look of.

No matter the name, green seems less common in many of our wardrobes and this may be the season to change that. There’s a flattering undertone and intensity for every one of us.

Is green a color you reach for and which shades appeal to you?

FYI- Ulta is having their 21 Days of Beauty Sale and today, some Bare Mineral lipsticks are on sale.

Thanks for reading ladies and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.

The mask issue has been difficult ro some people . I choose to wear a mask because it protect me as well as others. I have a few health concerns and I don’t want to get sick as well as my daughter in law is expecting and my grandson is not five yet. So my choice is easy.

    1. I’m with you, Mary

  2. Love the green, every one! I usually go for blue or black, need a different look this year. By the way I am 82..

  3. I bought that maxi dress you want to buy for my trip to Florida. For me ( having cool undertones) the dress was just too washed out . I was so disappointed because it shows up darker in photos. So back it goes. Maybe you will like it ok, but I didn’t feel confident in it and it sure didn’t do anything for me.

  4. I do reach for green, but not usually pure green. My favorite shade is in the reversible caftan. Green with blue in it, like aqua is beautiful and my absolute favorite color!
Chico’s had/has a pull-on jegging in jade that I centered a capsule wardrobe around, to go away for a few days over St. Patrick’s Day. I pulled all my greens out of my closet and it was so much fun!
Fun post to look at all the different shades.

  5. I think a soft green looks lovely with silver har.

I wear green, but in muted shades of olive, sage, khaki. It’s a wardrobe staple throughout the year.

I love the color of the raincoat above — that a shade I’m drawn to!

I also like the Riviera Slim Pants but that shade of green is too bright. The cut of the pants looks terrific, though.

Yes, I’m very drawn to green….have green eyes….but not all shades are flattering on me. I have Mediterranean skin , so olives, (some) evergreens, kelly, the pistachio color at J Jill are nice shades for me. Pale greens, neon greens, not so much!! LOL But I am drawn to green and will always try, just in case! I agree that your hair is looking so very good!

  8. A fresh bright lime green is one of my favorite colors for emotional impact. Many years ago, long before it was a popular combo in decorating, I paired cobalt blue and lime green in my home. Loved it.
I have several pieces of warm undertone greens in my wardrobe and I enjoy seeing it there but am a bit baffled why I seldom reach for it. When I do put it on, I usually change it. Perhaps the vibrant greens my eye likes is too strong for my personal low contrast coloring.

    1. Lime with cobalt sounds amazing. Not easy to wear though.

  9. I painted both my den and dining room green and yet I never wear the color. Perhaps it’s time for me to try it again! I love the gauze dress (wish it had pockets), but prefer it in the blue stripes shown on their website. I do want to thank you for your post yesterday about Bare Minerals lipstick and the comment from a reader about today’s half price sale. My daughter has been telling me to try their products for years & motivated by your post I finally ordered the Honesty and Insight lipsticks. Looking forward to trying them!

    1. Half price is awesome. I restocked mine too. Iā€™m glad youā€™re trying them.

  10. Green is not a colour I am drawn to. Not sure why as it is pretty. Iā€™m more apt to pick blues, reds or fuchsia. Looking around my house and closet, I have no green, the exception being plants. Perhaps, I should try on a piece and see why Iā€™m not drawn to such a pretty colour.

    1. Thatā€™s an interesting observation. I donā€™t have much green either hurt I love the cool ones.

Love the post thank you. So many gorgeous greens!! Happy week Jennifer šŸ™‚

  12. As a pale, ash blonde-turning grey, green eyes with blue rims, I love all the cool greens! They arenā€™t always available,so I stock up when I can.The usual classic neutrals make me disappear,so denim blue is my neutral.95% of my wardrobe is blue to green shades, with a little lavender and muted rose.Thank you for this inspiring post!

    1. Your eyes sound gorgeous!!

    2. The maxi dress she posted about I bought thinking it would good on me as a blonde with blue eyes . I loved the ease of it and the material for my trip to Florida. The dress came and I tried to in on willing myself to love it . It is just such a pale green . It made me look washed out. Nothing pretty about that. Hope it works for you.

  13. Really Iove green, so glad it’s in this year. Wearing green really brings out my green eyes. I had a beautiful green wool coat in high school. I loved that coat. I like the pants in this post!

  14. As I have blue eyes, I usually steer towards blue, but itā€™s nice to see more colors offered, like green.

  15. Can count on one hand the number of garments that I’ve had in green though one of my favourites (many years ago) was a two piece suit (jacket cut blazer with a mini skirt) that was close to the colour of Patone’s #368C. (Am fair in complexion and looked great when I was tanned with my platinum blonde hair I had at that time.) As to now; currently own only one item which is a long sleeved linen shirt that is a lighter version of it. With that said; have been meaning to compliment you on your hair Jennifer, as is looking fabulous and very chic. -Brenda-

    1. Thank you so much Brenda

  16. Love green. As an autumn girl, olive is a basic/neutral in my closet. I also find it a soothing and restful color ā€¦ā€¦
Just look at nature; even Mother Nature embraces it !
Love the green family, thanks for todays post.

  17. So many comforting shades of green! I just purchased a mint green/white striped boyfriend shirt from the Loft. Itā€™s all cotton, washes up beautifully and will plan to wear it with a white tank this spring and summer. I love the comfort of wearing that third piece and this is a look that I repeat many times.
The tiered, green shirt waist dress is so pretty! Actually, so many of these colors and styles really appeal to me today. Thanks for a fun read this morning!

    1. I have that same green striped shirt from Loft. Itā€™s a great one.

  18. I am on Sanibel Island in Florida, and I just visited the original Chicos where I bought a great long Kelly green shirt and a matching tank top. They were on sale, marked way down for an after St. Patrickā€™s Day sale. I love the color and look forward to wearing the shirt as a beach coverup and the set with white pants all summer long.

    1. They sound like a great find!

Love this! And yes, greens are restful and peaceful and very Springlike! Love these shades- most of them!
