Look of the Week: Style That is Inherent

Look of the Week: Style That is Inherent

My style recipe changes often but when something really rings my bell, it continues to do so for years. I’m careful about purging clothes and almost never get rid of accessories. I didn’t always feel this way. I’m still regretting my decision to donate a stunning gray suit several years ago. I hope the lady who got it realizes just how amazing it is.

This blue top also got away but I was able to replace it.

You first saw me wear this top 2 years ago. That was before I wore it to do the laundry. Before I splashed Clorox down the front. Before the bleach ate holes through it and I had to get rid of it

I finally decided to re-buy it. Yes, I’m a brand ambassador for Artful Home, but I am also a happy customer.

I love the cut, fabric, and color of this top plus the shape flatters my silhouette. In short, it is inherent to my style. A style that is inherent for you is instinctual, deep-rooted, feels natural and essential.

The 3/4 sleeves help me look taller and show off bracelets, which I wear a lot. The sleeves, neckline, and hem have lettuce edging which adds a small touch of femininity. The color is terrific and looks great with jeans, which I wear often.

Because the tunic is long, I’m wearing it with my skinniest legged jeans. These are the Soft Surroundings Metro leggings with an elastic waist. Elastic waistbands seem to have a dirty name but done right, they’re flattering and comfortable.

The asymmetrical shape feels modern which is one of the style words I gravitate to. Because I was wearing red toe polish and carrying a red handbag, I popped on some red lipstick.

Do you like to look modern?

Is it a style word you gravitate to?

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

I love my Metro Leggings! I have them in denim & white. And elastic waistbands are my friend!

I love this color on you! You look so happy in it. I think that a denim-y blue is very modern, especially as we get older. We may not be able to wear the cuts and fits that our daughters and nieces do, but we can adapt their colors to us. Blue and teal are my very favorites, because I have eyes like yours. I can’t pull off the red lips like you do, though 🙂 Re “modern” as a fashion term, it does resonate with me. Modern takes on classics are a fav!!

The red lipstick is new for me. I don’t wear it often or with pale garments because it overwhelms my coloring. Teal is my absolute favorite in all shades.

I would have cried after your bleach incident as that top is just the most beautiful blue.I’m so happy for you that you were able to replace it and it looks modern and stylish on you.Blue is definitely your colour.
I do like to look modern and I do love to try on new styles to see if they suit me.I look pretty modern at the moment as I have been to the gym and am wearing a new top and leggings.I look like I really like pink and have the complexion to match!
    Cheers!

I’ve got several favorite reds now. This is organic by Mineral Fusion. A cool red that’s not too intense for me. xo

Love the top and color, I like modern styles. I like dark denim the best and added benefit as you wash them you get that great faded look. I add tops like that to my list and look for similar tops when out shopping. Thanks for all the great ideas.

I’m a huge fan of dark denim and it’s popular for spring..yay!

That shade of blue is YOUR color! I can’t believe you splashed bleach on it, that sounds like something I would do.
As much as I wouldn’t mind the help, I’ve banished my husband from doing laundry because he is a wild man with bleach and high heat! I think looking modern and current keeps us appearing youthful…not to be confused with trendy! I want my appearance to reflect how great I feel mentally!

My husband has turned more of my cashmere sweaters into dog sweaters than I can count! He’s learned to ask before he puts my things in the machine:) Everything he washes goes in hot water along with bath mats and towels…Ouch!

Yes to modern. Speaking of which, what color denim is currently on trend? I never know what color jeans to buy. Soft Surroundings has five choices, that’s four too many for me, lol. Love that top you’re wearing… it’s an eye-catcher.

Dark denim is on trend this Spring. It’s the most formal looking of all washes and the most slimming. Yay, my personal favorite.

Thank you for sharing the details of the Soft Surrounding jeans. They are exactly what I am looking for. I’m not keeping or buying anything that is not comfortable around my 62 year old middle. Sick to death of tugging my below the waist pants up 50 times a day!

        • February 5, 2018 / 3:27 pm

Let me know how you like them!

I like this top on you, but for me, the price of $188 is too much to pay for it. I might pay $40 but not more

    • February 5, 2018 / 7:04 am

Thanks Linda. I do know that not everything I wear will appeal to all women nor be in her unique budget which is why I share items at all price points.

You look amazing in this outfit. I like this blue look so much better than all the black. You just glow in this post!

    • February 5, 2018 / 7:08 am

Thanks Pam. It’s one of my favorite colors for just that reason. The hue, saturation and intensity are perfect for me.

I love to look modern…I think when I look modern, I look current, and that helps build my confidence. This tunic is so great for you and you look amazing in it…glad you replaced it. I am certain all of us have similar stories!

    • February 5, 2018 / 7:09 am

I’m sure we do. I’m very careful with what I don’t know and try to pass the laundry duties off when possible:)
