My Favorite Picks From The Tommy Bahama Friends and Family Sale
Walking into Tommy Bahama last week was the mental break I didn’t know I needed. I went in to scout the spring arrivals and liked the selection so much that I was back by the weekend to try some on. If you have a vacation on the horizon, or just want to feel like you do, these pieces are the bridge between “resort wear” and clothes you’ll actually wear at home.

Here’s what I tried on, and yes, several things came home with me. Their Friend’s and Family sale is running now through March 15th so everything is 25% off!

I started with a column of white under a striped blazer. It felt like a fresh look, in fabrics that span the seasons. The Aruba Stripe Casual Navy and White Blazer is made of stretch cotton fabric and is very comfortable. It could easily go over a summer dress, or a tee and jeans. The tailoring gives it a polished look, but the fabric steps down the business vibe.
I’m wearing it over this Addison Sleeveless Linen-Blend Sweater in pure white. It’s more opaque than I expected, so my nude bra doesn’t show through. The straps are very bra-friendly, and it also comes in black. This is an awesome piece to layer under things all summer long.
The Coastal Beach Cropped Chinos are full-length on me (which I prefer because they help elongate my look). These have a 27″ inseam and come in 5 other colors. The cotton blend has 3% spandex, which makes it very comfortable. Chinos are such a great alternative to jeans when the weather heats up.

This Sunset Harbor Lux Leo Lace-Up Dress is a beige and white leopard print in 100% cotton. It’s a great everyday dress with sleeves and pockets! Finally, someone understands what many women desire in a casual dress. The fabric is nice and substantial, so a slip would be optional…depending on your preference.
I topped it with one of Tommy Bahama’s all-time customer favorites, the Two Palms Linen Raw Edge Jacket. The jean jacket styling gives it the perfect relaxed vibe for a casual lifestyle. It’s machine washable, 100% linen, and comes in 5 colors. I spotted this palm tree-embroidered one online, which is perfect if you love prints! This chambray linen blend version was not in my store, but it’s now in my cart:)

I sized up to a medium in this Carmela Coastal Sands Wrap Dress, so I would have extra coverage in front (I always do that in a true wrap dress). It’s a gorgeous French blue and white, abstract print that’s very wearable. It’s made from recycled polyester and has UPF 30 sun protection.
This would be great with sandals or white tennies for casual, or you could switch it up with dressier shoes for a dinner out. The wrap shape is flattering on most silhouettes and gives the illusion of a waist on straight figures like mine. The fabric packs and travels like a dream.

These classic Boracay Bermuda 10″ Shorts are a cotton/tencel/spandex blend that’s very comfortable to sit in. They have side pockets and come in 5 colors, sizes 0-16. These have a polished vibe that’s perfect for everyday wear.
I topped them with this Linnea Linen Camp Shirt and white Linen Jacket. The shirt comes in 4 colors, and I’m wearing the French Blue. The sleeves are almost elbow length, which I appreciate these days, and the soft fabric is opaque. I report that because many of these light linen tops are see through, which drives me batty…whether I’m wearing a nude bra or not.

These Striped Beach Breeze Dobby Linen-Blend Easy Pants are so perfect for spring. I seldom wear patterns, but I love stripes, and when they’re in linen, they help to camouflage the inevitable wrinkles. I’m wearing the Margareta green, but they also come in French Blue, which wasn’t at my store, so now it’s in my cart. These are a linen/cotton blend and opaque, which I appreciate in hot weather.
There is a coordinating striped top, that I think might end up looking like PJs if worn together. I tossed this Cedar Linen Long-Sleeve Batuea Neck Sweater over my shoulders in the same green. It’s very lightweight, 100% linen, and it’s not opaque, so you’ll probably want to wear a tank under it. This comes in 5 colors and makes a great outer layer or scarf equivalent for warm weather.

This Ashby Isles Lux Leo 3/4 Sleeve Tee is a fun leopard print in soft aloe green. It’s a paler green than the Margarita above, and very pretty. This is 100% cotton with a slight shirttail hem that looks nice tucked or untucked. It also comes in a soft beige print.
On the left, I’m wearing it with these Bermuda shorts in kahki sand. On the right are their Relaxed Cropped Straight-Leg Cuff Jeans. They have a 30″ hem when uncuffed and 26″ when cuffed. These are a very soft denim and have just enough stretch.

The best spring clothes don’t need to be complicated to look good. A few well-cut pieces in breathable fabrics can carry a lot of the load once the weather warms up. Think light layers, easy dresses, and polished separates that keep you comfortable without drifting into sloppy.
Are you a Tommy Bahama shopper?

Spring is around the corner! It was nice to see you in some warm weather outfits. I like the navy jacket in the first photo.
Wow, I bought the Two Palms jacket in Salmon so fast, I made my own head swim. I didn’t stop to see if they run small or large or read any reviews? I fell in love. My husband has a few TB shirts from TJ Maxx and I like them, they’re good quality. I’m originally from the South, so they speak my language.
I have not seen the stripped jacket yet but love it!! I have every color of the Two Palms linen jacket and love them all!! They are so versatile and fit great. I also have the reversible sweatshirts and since I am a Chiefs fan I have 3 of the Chiefs sweatshirts. I like the quality of TB.
By the way your hair looks fantastic. I know you have written about your hair struggles so wanted to let you know it looks great!!
Thank you Susan! Lots of product in it.
Nice clothing selections, but more importantly, your hair looks great!
Thank you so much
Good afternoon, Jennifer,
I love the outfits, but I am worried about buying anything that is linen. I am afraid that after wearing it for a while, I would look like I slept in it. I like my clothes to be comfortable so that I can sleep in them, but not look like I did. Thanks so much for all the effort you put into showing us what is new and how to put together a nice, attractive ensemble.
Linen does wrinkle so it may not be for you.
That dress looks fabulous on you. I hope it followed you home.
It didn’t but I’m sure rethinking it!
That blue & white wrap around dress is stunning on you Jennifer (even in bare feet). I hope you bought it!
Great pieces! You look great in the wrap dresses. A beautiful dress. The striped linen pants a winner too. I can understand why the blue are in your cart. We have a Tommy Bahama outlet store, they won’t have the same items but worth a look. I always find something for my husband or myself that needs to come home😇
The styles are so wearable!
The blue dress looks fabulous on you!
Thanks!
Yes! I love Tommy Bahama and will have to check these out. I really like the margareta striped pants and sweater. Yum!
These are great vacation outfits. I’ve never bought Tommy Bahama clothes for myself but my husband loves their shirts.
Thank you for this try on session. Since we moved to a state without this store, I often forget about it. I love the quality of their clothing and it helps with online ordering to see someone in the clothes give a true review and talk about sizing. I love the chambray linen jacket and the linen pants. I may have to give them a try.
Wow! New store. You look great in everything and fit you so well. I especially like the first jacket and the wrap dress. Have a fun day.
Thank you for all that you do for your blog. I enjoy that you cover many different topics. I’m a senior that relates to your style one hundred percent. I look for AWSL first thing each morning!
Yes, I like certain styles from TB clothing. I have the Ashby Isles tee in my cart, does it run TTS? I don’t know if I should order the S or XS. I am narrow across the shoulders. Thanks.
I have broad shoulders and the S works perfectly on me. You sound like an XS, depending on your bust size.
Thank you for the Tommy Bahama try on. I own the Two Palms linen jacket in white and it is a favorite spring and summer piece. The cropped chinos would also be full length on me and I was wondering if they are high rise or mid rise. Do you recall?
They felt high enough for me but they may be mid…I have a long torso so if they’d been mid, I would have noticed.
I’m definitely a Tommy Bahama shopper, but I live in Southwest Florida so it’s part of my uniform. I have the Two Palms linen jacket in every color they make, and they are the most versatile pieces I own. I throw them over print dresses or pants, and have taken them on all my travels. Perfect for chilly restaurants, stores and airplanes. As a petite I appreciate that I can just roll up the sleeves and they still look stylish. I highly recommend them and other Tommy Bahama pieces as well. Good quality and style!
Thank you Maria. You just described exactly why I love my Two Palms linen Jean jacket.
TB is a brand I’m shocked I like! I have the Aruba sweatshirt blazer in two colors (wish they made a solid navy), the Two Palms linen jean jacket in three colors and a few dresses. That wrap dress looks amazing on you! I also have that Caslon double breasted jacket in navy. It’s fine for the price (size down), on the thinner side. No Frank and Eileen but it will do. As you can see I love summer layers as I run cold esp in AC! Love to see how you are styling these pieces!
I was shocked to like so many of these because I assumed it wasn’t my style but I could have bought much more than I did! I loved that dress but my brain froze when I thought of shoes. Now I know, comfy sandals and white tennies 💡
Thank you Jennifer, you found a fresh look, needed that!
Gail
You look terrific Jennifer!
I live in the Houston area…hot and humid… and Tommy Bahama is one of my favorites for here as well as travel. Clothes are well made and cheerful!
Appreciate all you do!
They’re beautifully made too!
Unfortunately, the cuts of TB don’t usually flatter me, and I guess it’s down to the for model? I am a tall hourglass and they are often shorter and tighter in the hips than I need. However, the linen jacket they have (thankfully) continued to sell is amazing!! I have broad shoulders too, for what it’s worth, but they are the single most useful jackets I own for spring. I highly recommend!!
I love them too!
