Weekend Reading 10.10.26

Happy weekend! We have lots of fun things planned this weekend, including a trip to the pumpkin patch with my littlest grandson and a get-together with our long-time dinner group.

TALBOTS NO-IRON SHIRT / COTTON POPLIN PANTS / HANDBAG / NAOT SANDALS

It’s been in the high 90s all week, but since I don’t wear shorts, I’ve been relying on cotton gauze and cotton poplin. I’ve already packed away my linen, so these work perfectly.

Question of the week

My posts about leggings have always been some of the most popular on the blog, which has me wondering if you’re still wearing them as much as you used to. Are leggings still something you reach for during fall and winter, or have you moved on to other styles of pants? I’d love to hear what you’re wearing these days!

Bestsellers of the week – what readers loved most:

On my radar:

  • Frank & Eileen just released a new washed velvet shirt with my name all over it! It comes in a pretty gold or the prettiest navy! This sweatshirt tee is a fun shape too.
  • You know how much I love my Margaux Phoebe flats, so I was excited to see that they now make a boot version. Sizes are already selling out quickly, and I wanted to share them before they’re gone.
  • I’ve also been looking at some of Adidas’s fun sneakers this season. Their collections include animal prints and metallic finishes, which are a nice way to add a little interest to an otherwise simple outfit.
  • I’m starting to keep an eye out for holiday gifts, and this cashmere scarf caught my attention. It comes in quite a few colors and costs less than $40. I also spotted this NEST New York 5-Piece Votive Candle Set at Nordstrom Rack. NEST makes wonderful candles.
  • Ruggable has introduced its first wool rug collection, and I love that they’ve made it easier to care for. Wool naturally helps repel spills, feels soft underfoot, and adds wonderful texture to a room. The Tropez Brown Wool Rug is a lovely neutral, while the Lucien Slate Blue Wool Rug adds a pretty touch of color and pattern.
  • Now’s a nice time to update a few photos around your home before the holidays, and this pretty picture frame caught my eye. I also love this portable charcuterie board with a lid for entertaining. You can prep it ahead of time and bring it along when you visit friends or family.

Highlights from the weekend sales:

  • Talbots is offering an extra 50% off when you buy two or more sale styles or an extra 40% off one. They also have some Fall Feels Deals worth checking out.
    • Wool and Cashmere Triangle Scarf – I love the rich Dark Hibiscus color for fall, and triangle scarves are such an easy way to add a little interest to a simple sweater or jacket.
    • Twill Utility Jacket – I recently shared my thoughts on utility jackets, and this one in Dark Umber is a great option. It’s a versatile layer that would look lovely with jeans or casual trousers.
    • Pointelle Charming Cardigan – This soft brown leopard print caught my eye. It’s a nice way to add a little pattern to your fall wardrobe, and I’d pair it with chocolate brown trousers or jeans.
  • Chico’s has 25% off full-price styles and an extra 50% off markdowns.
    • I surprised myself by coming home with this green print sweater that’s on sale. It reminds me of animal print with its blend of soft colors.

More Chico’s That Caught My Eye:

  • Lands’ End is offering 50% off sitewide plus an extra 65% off sale and clearance with code HAYRIDE. I always find their sales worth browsing for comfortable, well-made basics, and these three pieces caught my eye.
    • Drifter Ribbed Collared Blazer Sweater – I’m a big fan of sweater blazers, and I like the texture and relaxed structure of this one. It’s the sort of layer I’d throw on over a tee when a regular blazer feels too dressy.
    • Sport Knit High Rise Pants – These have been a Lands’ End favorite for years, and I can see why. Sometimes you just want a comfortable pair of pants with an elastic waist that aren’t leggings or sweatpants.
    • High Rise Straight Leg Jeans – I appreciate a classic straight-leg jean that doesn’t try too hard to follow every denim trend. These look like a good everyday option to wear with sweaters, jackets, and boots this fall.

In case you missed it this week:

A little weekend inspiration:

If you’re looking forward to slowing down a bit this weekend, I’ve got a few posts you might enjoy. My hobbies for women over 50 has ideas for trying something new, and I’ve also shared ways to get a better night’s sleep, which is something many of us could use. If you’re in the mood to dream about your next adventure, these bucket list trips for women over 60 might inspire a little travel planning.
