Weekend Reading 11.01.25

We are in for a glorious weekend, and I’m more than ready. We’re in that weather window where one day it’s frigid and nasty, and the next I’m thinking I need to dig out my sandals.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever explained how serious a tea fanatic I am… but it’s pretty intense. I’m a passionate lover of Darjeeling (second flush) in the am and matcha in the afternoon. I’ve been drinking Murchies Darjeeling for many years, and I’m a devoted fan. We ran out last week, so I had to order some online. When it didn’t arrive in time, I was thrilled to discover a few of these adorable tea bags that came in the sweater packages I’ve ordered this fall. Thank you, Frank & Eileen!

Reader Favorites

  • These Wit & Wisdom straight-leg jeans flew out the door this week! If I needed another pair of jeans (which I don’t), they’d be these.
  • These Athleta Venice joggers have been super popular. A couple of readers shared how much they love theirs, so I’m going to try them.
  • This cozy Bouclé Jacket was also very popular with readers. I do love wearing bouclé this time of year.
  • This gray leopard print jacket was also a big seller and is on my short list of fun things I’m considering adding to my wardrobe.
  • I love my Talbots ribbed turtlenecks, and many of you do as well. I’m looking forward to the weather cooperating so I can bring mine out. They’re as classic as can be and have a beautiful quality.

Best of the Weekend Sales

  • SEPHORA SAVINGS EVENT has begun, and I’ll be stocking up. I’m a Rouge member…yes, I buy a lot of beauty products 😌. I’m a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury, so I bought this gift set for myself… I know I should be thinking of gifts. I reordered this Matte Hydrating Blurring Spray in mini size to try because at my age, I can use all the blurring and soft focus I can get. If I like it, I’ll get the full size and use this one for travel. I also ordered this concealer brush because I love the angle of the bristles.

  1. So excited to read you like Darjeeling. It’s my favorite now too. Found Darjeeling by reading the Sherlock Holmes bookshop mysteries by Vickie Delaney. I find it more robust and “heavier” than my (now) second favorites English or Irish breakfast tea. I’m going to check out Murchies. I can find Darjeeling at – believe it or not – Soups Online. Ha! Love your site – you offer us such excellent and useable tips.

  2. Linda Carey says:

Do you make your own matcha or do you use a tea bag?

    1. I use a powder and whisk it. It’s pretty simple

  3. I enjoyed your cheerful column, but have a separate question. Where do you go when you want to try on shoes in person? The Walking Store, which had great options for experienced feet, is now only online. The stores I go into, including DSW and a locally owned store near me, don’t have much variety. I’ve gone there to try on sizes to decide what brands fit me best, and then ordered online. Thoughts?
    Thanks!

    1. I also try on at DSW and Nordstrom

  4. I saw a lot that I liked! The Loft sweater may find a home in my closet. It’s very nice, and at that price, it’s a bargain.
I’m a tea drinker, too; never coffee .
I’m partial to Earl Grey. If I’m not feeling well, I like a lemon tea.
I’m halfway through your brother’s fourth book , Stone -Cold Chaos. I’m counting on Jake and his team to save the country! I hope a book 5 is in the works.
Enjoy your tea and the weekend.

    1. Happy Weekend Nancy!

  5. The boucle jacket takes me to the Nordstrom site for the Wit & Wisdom jeans. Thank you always for the wonderful tips and shopping trips!

  6. The concealer brush? I have the Sephora one, 02, same shape and it’s wonderful! Think you’ll like it! I’ve used mine with both liquid and cream concealer and it works for both. You might want to try Sephora, pro concealer 45 brush, too. I use this one to dot concealer on, then the angled one to blend.
And tea….i drink cappuccino in am, then love sencha green tea in afternoons. And I’m very particular about that sencha! 😁
    Have a lovely weekend!

  7. Another great post from you ……. but, was wondering how you wash all you cashmere sweaters ? I don’t like hand washing but maybe that is the only solution. Thanks for any help.

    1. I wash mine in the machine on gentle in cold water and lay them flat to dry.

  8. Love the snowflake sweater – so classy and fun
    Great items!

  9. Jennifer
I just ordered the snowflake sweater from Loft to wear with the off white jeans I got at Talbots. Can’t wait to pair them. Thanks for bringing the sweater to my attention!

    1. That’s a great combo!

  10. Cozy boucle jacket links to wit and wisdom jeans. Good post!

  11. I enjoy your emails! I know you like no makeup foundation and wanted to let you know the foundation is the tvs on qvc today for $59. Comes with the brush.

  12. Hi Jennifer: I have been enjoying your blog for years!!! First time to leave a comment!!!!
I too am a tea lover!! I start my day with a cup of Chai green tea, by STASH. If I am meeting friends for coffee I always have my tea before I leave the house.
My new favorite tea is from Harvey and Sons called Decaf Hot Cinnamon black tea. The tea bags are made of “silken” fabric. They also have many other interesting flavors that I am looking forward to try. I would send you the link if I knew how do that!!!!
Peace from a fellow tea lover.

    1. I looked those up and I LOVE the sound of the decalf hot cinnamon so I ordered the one that has cinnamon, orange and cloves to try! Thanks Sharon

    2. The decaf cinnamon tea sounds amazing. I may have to order some! Thank you for the suggestion!
