HOLIDAY STYLE AND CYBER SALES

Call me sensitive but the phrase “holiday sweater” gives me the hebejebes. I wore plenty of them when my kids were little, so it conjures up images of some of my goofier looks. I was also the crazy lady who tied tiny bells onto the laces of her red boots to sound festive all season long. Come to think of it I still have those boots! The bells have long been removed:)

I wore a necklace and earrings in the shape of Christmas lights that I thought were the cat’s meow. Those were the days when everything was fair game and my attire was nothing short of jolly. I’m not sure when my style changed but the thought of wearing those looks now, makesĀ me feel silly.

Ugly Christmas sweaters have become a “thing” and they hold contests to vote for the worst or best. Some of these designers are amazingly talented and it’s fun to see these works of art. This one is hilarious but could get very warm:)

My idea of a holiday sweater today is a soft knit with a touch of sparkle or gleam and possibly some rhinestone or AustrianĀ crystal jewelry.

What’s yours?

The Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sales started on Wednesday and are massive. It’s the perfect time to start holiday shopping but also get those things you may have been wanting but didn’t want to pay full price for.

    1. Thanks for the tips Joyce! My husband is the most difficult to buy for.

  2. Ideas for gifts for men would be wonderful!

  3. I bought an indigo lace dress this week for the festive season. I can dress it up with silver shoes and crystal snowflake earrings or wear it with black pumps and pearls. I do have a Christmas sweater in my holiday boxes but I don’t wear it every year.

  4. I only wear sweaters with some bling.By bling,I mean glittery threads , I retired the ugly sweaters and vests, also the Christmas jewelry. I wear some tiny stars in my ears. I never really cared for the garish holiday apparel.

    1. Itā€™s amazes me how my style has changed. Of course what I consider garish will be subtle to others. The variety makes fashion fun!

  5. You have such lovely taste! I picked up some tartan J Crew pieces and some home wares at Anthro. Love those earrings. They are winners!

    1. Iā€™m really liking J Crew again! They lost their way for a few years but have a great new direction now. You have fabulous taste Jen!

  6. I like the hood on the leopard jacket. It gives it a more casual look. So fun!
Iā€™ve never worn Christmas attire. I prefer to dress with a little sparkle than a tacky sweater. I think an ugly sweater party would be fun though as everyone will be donning one,

    1. It would be a fun party. Sort of like a costume party:) Great point about the hood! Itā€™s still in my cart

Check out Donna Salyers Fabulous Furs (faux furs), They are beautiful. I have purchased three this year. Be careful, they are addictive!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion Rebecca! I just popped over and found about at least 10 I would like. They can be addicting:)

  8. Cathy J Eissler says:

Like you, I used to wear not the holiday sweaters but I have a collection of holiday tees (we live in FL). I still put one on occasionally but mostly wear more reds and greens and metallic prints and/or threads through plaids or plain colors. I have a few holiday type earrings (stars, etc.) to add to my normal collection. I transferred the really tacky Christmas attire to my late Schipperke who didnā€™t mind wearing clothes/current Schipperke detests it!! Legs go every direction as I attempt to dress him then he sits and will not move until I take it off! Oh well! Heading out now to get Christmas decorations (3 trips) in our company cargo van! Grandson Kaden is here and says he will help me. Weā€™ll see how long that lasts!!! We are also picking up hubbyā€™s other bicycle from storage for K to use while here. I tend to think that will be the end of helping Nana!

    1. I think you’re right Cathy! Much more fun to ride hubby’s bike than help with decorations! My dog stands like a statue when dressed in anything and detests it! My old dog tolerated my fun but Lucy will have no part of it.Have fun
