Look of the Week: Fashion for RVing

The weather was stunning this weekend. Saturday we started our day sitting on the beach. Thereā€™s nothing quite like a warm sun, fresh breeze and the squeals of children dodging chilly waves. I had only 5 minutes to toss clothes in the trailer for this trip so packed very few and even fewer accessories.

I test drove my new Lou & Grey sweater and found it perfect. I’m glad I ordered it in soft ivory too. It’s cozy but not too warm. I forgot to bring any necklaces so tied a scarf to fill the neckline.

Casual SkechersĀ were perfect for the sand.

It doesn’t matter how much or how strong my sunscreen is, long hours of sun exposure means my neck and chest will burn so the best course of action is physical coverage so I flipped my scarf forward.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Helen Kaminski fedora

It felt too cool for a straw hat so I brought my wool fedoras. These photos let me know I need to find a few winter hats with broader brims because these are not giving my face and neck enough protection.Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Lou & Grey Sweater

I popped a black turtleneck under my gray sweater and switched into booties for dinner in town and then to sit and enjoy the sunset. The funny thing is I packed 6 pairs of shoes/boots and only 3 tops? What was I thinking:)?Jennifer Connolly of A S Well Styled Life at Brighten State Park

The next day we drove to Santa Cruz for a quick walk around. The park was just opening and we didn’t go on any rides which wasĀ just fine with me because they make me throw up:)

I wore my “intentionally creased” Jennifer Connolly of A Well Styled Life wearing Artful Home in Big Basin Redwood State Park

Then we drove northeast to see the Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It’s the oldest stateĀ park in California which was rescued from the timber industry to save the Redwoods. These majestic trees are stunning and make one feel very small.

This trip feels like we’ve been a long way from home, when in fact it’s less than a 2-hour drive from home. I love exploring in our own backyard which reminds me that relaxation is more a state of mind than where we are.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

You make glamping look fabulous. We’ve decided against buying a beach condo, and going for a brand new camper that’s about the size of a one bedroom studio. I have found a few luxury rv resorts near me, mountains and beach. The best of both women worlds. I’m really excited

    1. Oh Amanda, that sounds awesome. Youā€™ll have a blast…we love our little one. Enjoy!

  2. You look WAY nicer RVing than I do! I’m packed for camping actually, hiking and mountain biking and most importantly, warmth or cool! I do try to pack one nice outfit for a possible evening out for dinner in town. It really lifts the spirits to dress nicely after weeks of grunging and sun showers! You’re inspirational!

    1. Remember, I was only 2 hours from home and close to several towns. I dress quite different when we camp in the deep woods. However, I know my limitations and so does my long-suffering husband so we never rough it too much. Good for you mountain biking!!

I’m impressed with your packing skills.I’m away this weekend and you’ve given me some incentive to get my act together and pack simply, practically and of course stylishly.Loved seeing Lucy enjoying herself.

    1. Iā€™m usually happier when I pack lighter. Sheā€™s feeling much better:)

  4. Like Elaine, it freezing here with parka and boot weather. It’s hard to look as stylish as you in this weather and definitely not ac the beach! I’m envious!

    1. We are cooling off fast so more cold weather looks are on the way!

  5. Canā€™t believe you pulled off those amazing looks with 5 minutes of packing! You look totally polished and put together. Lucy looks so happy to be out with her mom. Glad you all got some well deserved R&R

    1. LOL you’re so nice Roxanne. I am so tired of that scarf I may never wear it again! It was a wonderful break for all of us.

  6. I travel a lot both long vacations and short jaunts. I have a checklist that I keep
In my travel bag. It has made a quick pack so easy! Create your own formula
And you will have seamless travel experiences!

  7. Thereā€™s nothing like a vacation to make you feel more upbeat and forget lifeā€™s little issues for a bit. We sometimes go for just a day or two. Iā€™ve learned to keep pyjamas in our van. I also have a spare pair of shoes, a rain jacket and gloves. I forget little things but manage to get by.

Lucy is loving the vacation too. She looks contented.

    1. Lucy had a fabulous time! I have compiled a list that I plan to keep aboard, always at the ready to make these trips easier. Shoes, jammies, jacket, and toiletries will make a huge difference. I’ve got a few scarves and wraps I could keep aboard too that will help a lot.

  8. Ah, I’m envious. When we lived in Pleasanton, we did a lot of weekend/long weekend trips. SO much to see that is close and beautiful. Thanks for sharing pics. You look great, as always.

    1. It is a great jumping off spot. Pleasanton is just lovely…you were so lucky to live. Thanks:)

  9. Love the white shirt! What size did you buy? Did you down size? Did you have to adjust the length? I am 5ā€™ 4ā€. Afraid it will be too long based on testimonials. Thanks

    1. Hi Lucia, I am wearing a small. I am also 5’4″. Here I am wearing it before I shortened it 4″. I like it both lengths on me. For leggings, I prefer the original length and for wider pants I also like it 4 ” shorter.

    Love the shoes!

    1. I’ve had mine for several years and worn them to bits. Sooo comfy.

Your casual “will take a gal anywhere” look is perfect for the weekend. We have a RV so I understand the creative wardrobe situation.

    1. Thatā€™s a great way to describe it! Larger closets on board would help:)

  12. You look totally relaxed and every so stylish in your fedora. Can you send some of that sun my way? ????
Lucy looks so cute snuggled in your lap. I bet she was itching to run around in the sand.

    1. Thanks! She was pretty happy to gnaw on some seaweed and doze in the sand. Running is hopefully next:)

  13. You look lovely! So comfortable, yet stylish. I laughed out loud over your 6 pairs of footwear and only 3 tops! I was reminded of a recent trip for which I also packed very quickly. I totally forgot pyjamas and had to go shopping for new ones. Fortunately, we were in the city where that was easy to do. I envy you the opportunity to go camping at this time of year. We have snow and though the sun is shining, it’s -15C (5F) this morning!

    1. I remembered pajamas at the last second!! Iā€™m thinking I want to start leaving some basics in the trailer so thereā€™s not so much packing and unpacking to do each time. Wow, thatā€™s cold!!
