Maximizing Closet Space with Hangers

Happy Monday ladies! We drove home over the weekend and are settling back into reality. Nothing like a couple weeks on the road to make me appreciate my own kitchen and laundry room. A conversation started in the comments over the weekend which prompted me to finish this post. I started it back in late December but forgot about it until now.

What do you hang your clothes on? About 15 years ago I invested in some nice wooden ones which have rubber grips on the shoulders that keep clothes from slipping off. I bought several packs at a time and gradually got rid of all my unmatched plastic ones. Matching hangers make your closet look more organized and is a delight.

Fast forward to sharing a small closet with my husband and I’ve been struggling with limited rod space. When we bought our little trailer, my rod space shrunk to 8” which meant I needed to get creative.

I bought these huggable hangers to save space and fell in love. They have a flocked surface that holds your clothes exactly where you put them. My clothes take up half the rod space they used to with the wooden hangers and keep everything wrinkle free. They’re ergonomically shaped to not leave dents in your clothes and I can report that they don’t!

I also bought several 4 bar hangers which hold my silk scarves. They never slip off and stay wrinkle free! I also use the 4 bar ones to layer jeans and pants when we are in our trailer.silk scarves hanging on huggable hangers on A Well Styled Life

I was so happy with them I bought a case for my daughter as one of her Christmas presents and she loves them!matching wooden hanger for jackets on A Well Styled Life

My beautiful wooden hangers now store my jackets and coats plus fill our guest room and front hall closet. If I ever get an enormous closet I may go back to using all wooden but honestly, these flocked ones are terrific.

Have you tried flocked hangers?

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

  1. I’ve been using the Huggable hangars for a long time and redid my closet with a new set recently. The only clothes that fall off the hangars are the couple of coats that came with heavy wooden hangars. And I gifted my co-workers this Christmas with hangars of their own. The hangars create extra space and the uniform size gives your closet an orderly appearance.
There are cascading hooks if you want to hang say one blazer and four possible tops together. and there are 23 color choices including 3 shades of purple.

    1. I’d love to find the cascading ones for tank tops!! I knew hangars made a great gift;)I prefer wood for coats so the shoulders have more support.
