2026 Complete Swimsuit Guide for Women Over 60
Shopping for a swimsuit over 60 is a different exercise than it used to be. I’m no longer looking for something tiny, trendy, or held together by optimism. I want support, coverage, and a suit that stays where I put it without requiring constant readjustment. I want straps that don’t dig, fabric that feels substantial, and enough structure to make me think someone involved in the design had actually met a grown woman.
If you’re looking for the best swimsuits for women over 60 in 2026, I’ve rounded up the styles that offer comfort, coverage, and support without tipping into matronly territory.
These are the suits that can handle a pool day, a beach vacation, or water aerobics without making you spend the entire time tugging, adjusting, or regretting your decisions.

My Favorite Swimsuits

My newest swimsuit is this Lands’ End SlenderSuit Grecian one-piece, and I love it. It feels secure, comfortable, and gives a little more coverage without looking frumpy. Lands’ End has long been one of the best places to shop for swimwear because the sizing is inclusive and their suits are made for women who actually plan to move in them. Their Tugless styles are also worth a look if you swim, take water aerobics, or just don’t want to spend the afternoon adjusting yourself in public.

La Blanca is the other brand I trust most. I’ve worn their suits for years because the fabric has real substance, the shaping feels supportive without being punishing, and the cuts are polished without looking matronly. Their cross-back, high-neck, and Island Goddess styles are especially good if you want a one-piece that feels secure, smooths the middle a bit, and still looks chic.

Best Swimsuit if You Want Support

If support is the priority, Miraclesuit is always worth a look. I love the flattering shape I get from the underwire in this Fiore De Luna Tummy Control suit.
The Sanibel one-piece has underwire, soft draping across the front, and enough structure to give shape without making you feel like you’ve been poured into it. It’s a good option if you want more lift through the bust and a little help through the middle.
Summersalt is another strong choice, especially if size range matters to you. Their suits have a modern look, good compression, and fuller coverage where many of us actually want it.
I also keep seeing the Stylest DreamSculpt square-neck suit everywhere. I like the cleaner neckline, the smoothing fabric, and the fact that it has a matching sarong, which makes it feel more useful than a swimsuit you only wear in transit from towel to water.
Best for Swimming Fun and Real Life
Not every swimsuit needs to look like it belongs at a resort. Some of us actually swim in them. If you do laps, take water aerobics, or want something more athletic, the L.L. Bean BeanSport Tanksuit is a practical option. It’s chlorine-resistant, quick-drying, and designed for movement, which is not the most glamorous sales pitch in the world, but it matters.
I’m also a big believer in rash guards. Sun protection is high on my list, and if I know I’ll be outside for hours, I’d much rather wear one than spend the day worrying about my shoulders and chest. Tommy Bahama makes a relaxed rash guard that’s easy to wear and doesn’t scream competitive surfer, which I appreciate.
If you prefer extra bottom coverage, a swim skirt is another smart option. Lands’ End makes a good chlorine-resistant version with built-in support, and it pairs easily with a tankini top.
Swim dresses used to look matronly, but I was quite pleased with the options I found while researching! I liked this Magicsuit by Miraclesuit because you can convert it into a regular swimsuit, but this one from Land’s End is a close second place. Sizes 8-16.
Board shorts are another smart option if you like more coverage for kayaking, paddleboarding, or walking around before and after the water. They’re easy to throw over a one-piece or pair with a tankini, and I especially like them for more active days when I want to feel a little more covered without fussing with a swim skirt.
Best Budget-Friendly Options
If you don’t want to spend a fortune, there are some decent budget-friendly options that still get the job done. A full-coverage one-piece from Amazon with wide straps and ruching can work well if you want something modest and affordable.
Budget swimsuits can be hit or miss, so I’d keep expectations realistic, but if you need something for an upcoming trip or a last-minute pool day, they can be perfectly wearable.

A Few Final Thoughts
The problem with swimsuit shopping is that every suit is being modeled by a 27-year-old with a perfect body, so part of the job is learning to look past all that and judge the actual suit. The best swimsuit for women over 60 is the one that fits well, stays put, gives you the coverage you want, and lets you enjoy the pool, beach, or vacation without constant tugging and second-guessing.
Are you in the market for a new suit this year? Do you prefer the low or high leg versions?

Jennifer, you look great in all of your swimsuits. I have had so many spots of skin cancer removed from my chest and shoulders that I don’t wear swim suits anymore. No sun for me!
That’s smart Deb!
Good Morning from Vancouver Island,
I wanted to say you look FANTASTIC in all your swim suits!!! Look forward to your emails everyday!
Thanks for sharing👏
Thanks Linda
Believe it or not, I’ve found my best fitting swimsuits at Big 5 at great prices. I’m 5’4”, 145 lbs but have a small ribcage with large breasts. I wear a 32H bra (Prima Donna). My hips are 42”. So a swimsuit that fits my cup size is too large around the ribcage. My best solution has come with tankinis that have built in molded cups and a good sized vertical band down the back which I get in a smaller size to fit my ribcage in order to hold the cups in place, even though the cups aren’t quite there, and buy a size 12 bottom to go with it. Because of the tankini style, as long as the cups hold me in place, they don’t have to be that large. The swimsuits I found at Big 5 were called Free Country. Two other regular swimsuits that I found there that fit me well in a size 12 are made by AquaSphere. Since I bought these a few years ago, and bought extras, I haven’t bought any recently. At age 75, I’m past wearing two piece swimsuits which was my solution for many years.
You look great in all of those suits! I’m now in my 80’s and have worn Maxine of Hollywood one piece suits for the last 10 years and find that they hold up well and give me the coverage I need and desire. Oftentimes they are on sale at reasonable prices, too.
You look great in all the suits! I’ve had many Lands End suits and have loved them all. Miracle suit is also terrific. I’ve not tried La Bianca. I really like that coral color and the suit is flattering. Next chapter coverups!
Yes! I will do coverups as soon as I can find some great ones.
I have the Lands Ends Grecian and I love it! I was able to pick up a couple of suits at Lands End on sale. I think they were less than $50.00! We use our hot tub several nights a week so I need a few suits. Bravo to you for stepping out of your comfort zone with an orange suit. You look great in it.
lol, thanks!
Great choices. Thanks for doing all the work.
A few years ago, I saw a returned swimsuit at my Chicos and I liked it so much I found it in my size on its website and bought it. It’s dark with a floral pattern and whenever I wear it, even in Florida, strangers come up and compliment me. Not accustomed to compliments on swimwear as an old lady. Chicos does seem to have a lot of swimwear, but I never see it in our store, so the website is worth a look.
I have a pool and a hot tub- I’m done with traditional suits! I wear a bikini top (never alone) , board shorts and a close fitting, stylish rash guard- some tanks, some long sleeve. I buy bright colors. I don’t feel dowdy, and more importantly, I feel confident. btw- 5’5, 120 lbs. I have nothing to cover up but at 64, I’m just done with being mostly naked in public.
I hear you! And totally understand how you feel. Confidence is the goal in my book.
Enjoyed the post and agree with another that cover ups at our age are just as important as the suit. My preference is 2 piece with tankini top. I love my miracle suit and the look of a few one piece suits I have but find it much easier to use the bathroom with the 2 piece ones. Lands end is one of my favs for rashguards and swim shorts and swim wear. Still looking for better hat options. Many say packable, but really aren’t.
I prefer a tankini too
Great selection of swimsuits. I don’t often have occasion to don a swimsuit, but these are cute options.
Although I love the slimming look of a one-piece swimsuit, I am looking for something more bathroom-friendly like a tankini. Most tankinis float up in the water which is not ideal. Any suggestions?
They make many that are snug to the torso like a one piece. I hate that floating nonsense too.
You look great!!! Last year I gave up and bought swim leggings from Lands End! problem solved…
Brilliant!!
My chest and shoulders got all the sun they needed in the 70’s and 80s, so I’m usually team Tugless + rash guard. For active stuff like floating I love Lands End swim shorts. I have a few cute suits from J Crew. I can’t stand the styles with compression, so it is what it is. Jennifer, you look amazing and cudos for posting pics for us!
Rash guards are really, really smart. My skin just hates the sun. I think I’ll try some swim shorts.
When visiting our daughter and family in Utah, I checked out a new-to-me swimwear shop, https://www.janelabay.com/ and bought a great one-shoulder flower-print suit that I’ve since enjoyed in a mountain spa. I think they carry just the kind of suits your readers, such as I, would be interested in.
Good Morning Jennifer, I’m due for a new Swim suit this year. And this is a great lineup. Seems like Lands End is the place to shop and I was going to drop into their store last year and didn’t go. You have to be in just the right state of mind for swim suit shopping. 🙂 For me, I like the tankini – short swim skirt look.
I do hate trying on suits but it’s a necessary evil
If I want to go into our spa or the pool with my grandchildren. I never lie in the sun.
I just tried on most of my swimwear and found that thankfully most of them still fit and are in good shape. Two years ago I bought several pairs of the 5″ swim shorts from Land’s End and also a few rash guards. I buy the rash guards one size up because I can’t stand them clingy. It works for me. Underneath them I wear either a tankini or bikini top. I’m very pale so sun protection is key for me. I can’t be bothered with self tanner and decided a long time ago that others’ opinions of my paleness don’t matter to me.
You’re a smart lady!
I think the high leg versions make the leg look slimmer. Land’s End is top-notch for swim suits. There is also an affordable variety in their Clearance section online.
I tend to agree with you. I prefer higher on me because my torso is long. I’ve just had a few precancerous spots burned off my upper leg in front of my hip, so I got this lower one for our trip.
You are very brave & look wonderful in the suits you are modeling!
lol, thank you Cilla
Perfect timing. By the way, you look amazing. I subscribed to a few blogs yours is by far the best for me.
