2026 Complete Swimsuit Guide for Women Over 60
Shopping for a swimsuit over 60 is a different exercise than it used to be. I’m no longer looking for something tiny, trendy, or held together by optimism. I want support, coverage, and a suit that stays where I put it without requiring constant readjustment. I want straps that don’t dig, fabric that feels substantial, and enough structure to make me think someone involved in the design had actually met a grown woman.
If you’re looking for the best swimsuits for women over 60 in 2026, I’ve rounded up the styles that offer comfort, coverage, and support without tipping into matronly territory.
These are the suits that can handle a pool day, a beach vacation, or water aerobics without making you spend the entire time tugging, adjusting, or regretting your decisions.

My Favorite Swimsuits

My newest swimsuit is this Lands’ End SlenderSuit Grecian one-piece, and I love it. It feels secure, comfortable, and gives a little more coverage without looking frumpy. Lands’ End has long been one of the best places to shop for swimwear because the sizing is inclusive and their suits are made for women who actually plan to move in them. Their Tugless styles are also worth a look if you swim, take water aerobics, or just don’t want to spend the afternoon adjusting yourself in public.

La Blanca is the other brand I trust most. I’ve worn their suits for years because the fabric has real substance, the shaping feels supportive without being punishing, and the cuts are polished without looking matronly. Their cross-back, high-neck, and Island Goddess styles are especially good if you want a one-piece that feels secure, smooths the middle a bit, and still looks chic.

Best Swimsuit if You Want Support

If support is the priority, Miraclesuit is always worth a look. I love the flattering shape I get from the underwire in this Fiore De Luna Tummy Control suit.
The Sanibel one-piece has underwire, soft draping across the front, and enough structure to give shape without making you feel like you’ve been poured into it. It’s a good option if you want more lift through the bust and a little help through the middle.
Summersalt is another strong choice, especially if size range matters to you. Their suits have a modern look, good compression, and fuller coverage where many of us actually want it.
I also keep seeing the Stylest DreamSculpt square-neck suit everywhere. I like the cleaner neckline, the smoothing fabric, and the fact that it has a matching sarong, which makes it feel more useful than a swimsuit you only wear in transit from towel to water.
Best for Swimming Fun and Real Life
Not every swimsuit needs to look like it belongs at a resort. Some of us actually swim in them. If you do laps, take water aerobics, or want something more athletic, the L.L. Bean BeanSport Tanksuit is a practical option. It’s chlorine-resistant, quick-drying, and designed for movement, which is not the most glamorous sales pitch in the world, but it matters.
I’m also a big believer in rash guards. Sun protection is high on my list, and if I know I’ll be outside for hours, I’d much rather wear one than spend the day worrying about my shoulders and chest. Tommy Bahama makes a relaxed rash guard that’s easy to wear and doesn’t scream competitive surfer, which I appreciate.
If you prefer extra bottom coverage, a swim skirt is another smart option. Lands’ End makes a good chlorine-resistant version with built-in support, and it pairs easily with a tankini top.
Swim dresses used to look matronly, but I was quite pleased with the options I found while researching! I liked this Magicsuit by Miraclesuit because you can convert it into a regular swimsuit, but this one from Land’s End is a close second place. Sizes 8-16.
Board shorts are another smart option if you like more coverage for kayaking, paddleboarding, or walking around before and after the water. They’re easy to throw over a one-piece or pair with a tankini, and I especially like them for more active days when I want to feel a little more covered without fussing with a swim skirt.
Best Budget-Friendly Options
If you don’t want to spend a fortune, there are some decent budget-friendly options that still get the job done. A full-coverage one-piece from Amazon with wide straps and ruching can work well if you want something modest and affordable.
Budget swimsuits can be hit or miss, so I’d keep expectations realistic, but if you need something for an upcoming trip or a last-minute pool day, they can be perfectly wearable.

A Few Final Thoughts
The problem with swimsuit shopping is that every suit is being modeled by a 27-year-old with a perfect body, so part of the job is learning to look past all that and judge the actual suit. The best swimsuit for women over 60 is the one that fits well, stays put, gives you the coverage you want, and lets you enjoy the pool, beach, or vacation without constant tugging and second-guessing.
Are you in the market for a new suit this year? Do you prefer the low or high leg versions?

Why would you put pictures of 20’somethings wearing suits in an article discussing suits for women over 60? Major miss here…
Because those are the models that brands use
I ordered the swim suit from Amazon- and was very pleasantly surprised! It fit true to size and offers light control- and best of all-the straps are adjustable!! I find adjustable straps hard to find- even my expensive Miracle suits don’t have them, nor do my Land’s End suits. So thanks for the tip!
Amazing, thanks for letting us know Ava
Thanks for braving the workout of trying them on and reasons why those suits work. I love your sense of humor, “competitive swimmer” rash guard.
Hi, Jennifer. I’m getting caught up on this week’s posts and I really appreciated this post. The blue of the Lands End suit looks so great on you! To answer your question, I prefer a swimsuit that has full rear coverage and good support in the bust. I had tried several brands and found that Miraclesuit makes swimsuits that fit me best, look great, and lets me swim without feeling like I’m going to fall out of the top of it. What kind of coverups do you prefer? I have a few breathable lightweight but decently opaque caftans that I picked up on Amazon before doing our QM2 cruise to wear to and from the pool. I got lots of compliments on them and was even asked if I had bought them in one of the onboard shops. I’ve been using them ever since. Isn’t it funny that wearing something inexpensive that you are comfortable in can make people think you are wearing something pricey? I’ve never been comfortable showing much of my body in public even when I was a 105 pound 20 year-old, and am even less so now. Being able to find modest swimwear and coverups that make me feel comfortable gives me more motivation to go to the pool and swim instead of finding reasons not to go. Another nice thing is that you can find caftans in different lengths from knee-length to ankle-length. So it doesn’t matter if you are short or tall. Thank you for all the time, effort and thoughtfulness you put into this blog and your responses to your readers. I’m so glad that I found it!
Thanks for being here Christine
You look great in the suits. I like them all. I just bought two suits. I like a suit that is one piece that has a design that is darker on the bottom and lightens as it moves toward the top. I also prefer a design that is the same on the front and back. I’ve seen so many suits where the front is colorful and the back is all black. That expanse of black is not flattering for me. I like a bit of high leg as it seems to elongate my 5’2″ figure. Swimsuits have come a long way and there are many nice styles and fabrics.
You are a brave soul to post swimsuit photos but as others have said, you look terrific! You look great in everything shown.
I second the recommendation for Lands End swimwear and recently snatched up an olive green high neck tankini top and matching swim skirt on sale. I don’t love exposing my upper chest and this provides perfect coverage. I have similar LE suits in other colors and they wear well.
I find two piece suits easier to deal with in the restroom when dealing with wet skin and wet suit!
Thank you for all your suggestions…love them all! I just wish I had enough guts to put on a swimsuit!!
A lot of good swimsuits here. I really like the flutter sleeve 1 piece suits from Anne Cole. They have a zip up style, which protects the chest from the sun, and little flutter sleeves to hide my under arm fat. Plus her prints are so colorful.
Wonderful choices
Thank you for sharing and you look good in them all
You look so good in swimsuits! Love the first one so much!
Nice swim suits.
Just a comment on the shoes. I recently bought the hokas in the galaxy/dried rose and I love them. They are so comfortable.
They’re such a great color too
Thank you for doing what none of us older girls want to do. You looked awesome in those suits. Think I’m going back to trying Land’s End.
I think you’ll like them. They’re wonderful suits.
