How to Get Shiny, Frizz-Free Hair with Zuvi

As many of you know, I’ve been on the struggle train with my hair for the last few years. Intense thinning, fallout cycles, and going silver have all affected how my hair looks. My lackluster, silver hair is often all I see in the mirror, and it has a negative impact on my confidence. I wear more hats when I’m having a bad hair day, and when it’s silky, shiny, and full, I’m ready to see and be seen.

I’ve been on a mission to have more good hair days, and a big part of why I am is thanks to my Zuvi Halo Hair Dryer. You can see my initial thoughts and six-month check-in in these posts below:

I admit I was skeptical that a hair dryer could make a big difference in the look of my hair, but Zuvi has. My other “expensive” hairdryer hardly gets used anymore because it doesn’t leave my hair this shiny.

The Latest with Zuvi

Zuvi has won numerous industry awards for its innovative technology, including Allure’s Best of Beauty award and TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2022. What makes the brand stand out is that instead of relying on extreme heat to dry your hair, which can cause damage and frizz, the Zuvi Hair Dryer uses a technology called “LightCare.” This technology is so game-changing that L’OrĆ©al recently invested in Zuvi and started an exciting relationship.

My Hair Journey

Like I mentioned above, I’ve had so much going on with my hair in the last year. You can read in depth about it in this post and the solutions/treatments I’ve been using. One of the biggest things that helps my confidence in how my hair looks is using my Zuvi.

A blowout and styling my hair without damaging it make all the difference for me. But, until I discovered the Zuvi, my good hair days were few and far between, especially if I was traveling. The hotel hair dryers just left me frustrated, and at home, no matter how many products I used, my hair just never seemed to look good. But now that’s all changed.

My Top Reasons Why I Love Using My Zuvi:

1. With my thinning hair, I have to make sure to keep the hair that I do have healthy and avoid irritating my scalp. This means I can’t use just any hair dryer. I credit my hair looking as good as it does these days to the patented LightCareā„¢ technology in the Zuvi. In a typical hair dryer, when you blow out your hair, you are drying out not only the hair particles and cuticles but also your scalp. I needed a gentler alternative, and the Zuvi delivered. It uses light to dry only the water droplets on the surface of your hair. Sounds wild, but it works!

2. I also found that my hair was looking dull after I stopped coloring it and started to embrace the silver. Every time I use the Zuvi, though, I see that shine come back and stay for the following days until I wash my hair again.

3. With spring not far off and winter winding down, frizz is a major problem for lots of us. But Zuvi can also help with that. Between the added moisture, shine, and special technology, the frizz stays at a minimum. Through the tests they’ve run, using the Zuvi makes your hair 17% smoother than typical hair dryers. Plus, it also makes your hair strands 9% stronger. I don’t know of any other hair dryer that has ever done that! You can learn more about the Zuvi Dryer here and why it might be right for your hair.

4. By using light energy to evaporate the water on the surface of the hair, Zuvi is more energy-efficient compared to traditional hair dryers that rely on heating elements to warm the air.

I’m seriously considering the Zuvi hairdryer and my hairstyle is similar to yours. What attachments do you use?

    1. I only use the gentle attachment and the concentrator when I style with my round brush. If you have curly or wavy hair you make like the diffuser.

  2. Great post, Jenifer! I have thin, fine hair cut similarly to yours and have been using a Zuvi hairdryer for the past 18 months with good results. On the suggestion of my stylist I no longer get highlights but a gloss is applied after the tint has covered my “salt and pepper” roots. There is less hair in the shower after shampooing and no split ends. I also use a shampoo and conditioner (sparingly) specifically for fine hair. After drying my hair with the Zuvi it looks fuller and shinier than with my old conventional hairdryer.

    1. Thatā€™s part of the reason I stopped coloring my hair.

  3. After reading your earlier reviews of the Zuvi, I asked my hubby to get me one for Christmas (first time I have ever asked him for any gift that has a cord). I absolutely love it! It dries my hair faster than my old dryer, I have less frizz, and it is so much quieter than my other dryer (that I bought specifically because it was promoted as quiet). Hubby loves using it too. His hair is thinning on top and the Zuvi makes it look thicker.

    1. Amazing! Thanks for sharing Janet

Thank you, Jennifer! My haircut is similar to yours so did you order extra attachments for the Zuvi? Which do you use?

    1. I did not order any extra. I just use the gentle hair attachment for inititla drying and the concentrator when I style with my round brush.

  5. I bought a Zuvi after reading your earlier post. I love it too! Itā€™s much gentler on my sensitive scalp. Plus itā€™s much quieter than other dryers and the barrel is short so my arms donā€™t get as tired. For me, the dry time is about the same and my hair is nice and shiny.

  6. Hi Jennifer, I sold my Dyson and bought the Zuvi I must be doing something wrong my hair got split ends and frizzy from it. I tried many hair creams topical smoothing products.. I went get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks to get the split ends off. I used virtue it didn’t work for me. I am still trying product’s to find what works. I don’t like heavy or greasy my hair is fine and thin with a natural wave to it. I began to wonder if it is my brush? Boar hair the size etc. Always leave salon looking smooth, bought their products Same thing happens. Still trying to figure it out!
What brush do you use? I have long past shoulders hair.. thank you
    Cindy

    1. Wow, that’s unusual. I use a round synthetic brush. My hair sounds much shorter than yours so it probably dries faster. You’re the firts person I’ve heard that has this issue with the Zuvi. Could it be something else causing it?

  7. Based on your positive review/experience with the Zuvi, I just forwarded the online link (along with the extra 5% discount code) to my partner, as a suggestion for a birthday gift for me. He bought it and told me it’s on its way, so I’m looking forward to opening it next week. I, too, have thin, straight and thinning hair, so I’m hopeful I’ll have good results too. Thank you for the recommendation, Jennifer!

    1. Please let me know how it works for you. It has a learning curve but once you get it I think youā€™ll love it!

      1. Update: Jennifer, I received my Zuvi hair dryer two days ago, and I love it! Was pleasantly surprised that it’s so light AND quiet, too! Am really enjoying it, and I just bought the wall attachment to hold the dryer. Thank you for sharing this info with us all.

      2. Thatā€™s wonderful!

  8. Okay, Jennifer, I’ve taken your advice and just ordered the Zuvi dryer. I too am losing hair and need all the help I can get. Wish me luck!

    1. Best of luck. Let me know how it goes!!

  9. I also sing Zuviā€™s praises. I was skeptical but when my husband said my hair looked really good I was hooked. Seriously though, it is gentle on the hair, hair is smoother and it looks like it has more volume

  10. The Zuvi sounds amazing! Since cancer my hair is short and most days I let it dry naturally and just touch up with a curling iron. This has saved my hair and with the right styling products is always shiny. Your hair does look really shiny and pretty lately!

    1. Iā€™m sorry to hear about your cancer.

  11. Your hair always looks great! Do you find it takes longer to dry compared to using the Dyson? I would love to get the shine you get with the Zuvi but my hair takes so long to dry.

    1. It does take longer because the heat is lower. I think thatā€™s why it doesnā€™t get fried.

  12. I just ordered the hair dryer, but saw no opportunity for the Jennifer5 additional discount.
My hair is quire short-one of the ways I deal with thinning, fine hair. Do I need the diffuser? Iā€™m not sure what it does.
    What setting(s) do you use?
    Thanks
    Hedi

    1. Oh no! I think it goes in when itā€™s in your cart. You might try emailing them. I donā€™t use the diffuser either. Itā€™s for curl. I use the fast setting then care setting with the concentrator. My first post in it describes how I use it.

  13. Does it take any longer to dry your hair? ie 5,10 minutes ??

    1. Itā€™s a bit longer than my Dyson but makes it so shiny and soft.

Jennifer, with thanks to you, I ā¤ļø my Zuvi hair dryer. I primarily use it to dry my hair straight, although my hair is naturally curly. Do you know anything about curl stylists/specialists? Iā€™m researching the efficacy of them. Have a great weekend! C

    1. Iā€™m so glad you love it too!!

  15. I also bought a Zuvi hair dryer and it is a game changer! I, too, have thin fine hair and concerned about keeping every strand! I have to say I am having many more “good” hair days thanks to this hair dryer. There is another game changer out there, Bondi Boost Bounce Brush – intended to be used on dry hair that adds tons of volume and uses LED light. Please try this Jennifer and tell us what you think, personally, along with Zuvi, it has changed everything hair wise for me!

    1. Wow!! Iā€™ll check it out. Thank you Denise.

  16. Sounds like a great hair dryer, thank u for sharing that post, I think u look great, even with thinning hair, I too have embraced white or silver hair and just wanted to share what I do to help keep my hair fairly thick. I take the B Vit. Biotin everyday and it does seem to work, as well as a B-Complex combo.
Thank You again for giving us gals great tips.

    1. Yes, vitamins are so important! Unfortunately, my blood pressure meds cause hair loss as does my thyroid. Itā€™s a battle.
