Weekend Reading 3.23.24

Happy weekend, ladies. Spring isn’t sure it wants to be here in my neck of the woods. The trees are literally raining blossoms, and my allergies are in full swing, but the temps are all over the place, so I hauled out my booties again just to keep my ankles warm.

J.CREW FACTORY CHAMBRAY SHIRT size M / TALBOTS HIGH-WAIST RELAXED JEANS size 4 (I sized down) / RECYCLED KNIT BOOTIES / SLING BAG / CHUBBY EARRINGS / SUNGLASSES (I HAD MY RX PUT IN THIS FRAME)

I realize I’ve been forgetting to snap my daily outfits, so this is what I wore to meet a pal for coffee and some window shopping yesterday.

FASHION ON MY RADAR

  • EILEEN FISHER rarely has sales, so take advantage of up to $100 off with the code SPRING24. They have a great new bronze color for spring the geranium is fabulous! I used to only think of black for EF, but they’re exploding with color this spring. I’m taking my time going through and have spotted some pieces I love.

  • SOFT SURROUNDINGS crossed my path this week, remember them? I used to love going into their store when we lived near one. Their spring collection is in and full of some gorgeous pieces for spring. They’ve also got up to 75% off markdowns with the code ITSOFFICIAL. They carry sizes in misses, petite, and women’s (plus). I think this dress would be stunning for an upcoming wedding. I wish I’d had this skirt for my trip to Mexico…but it’ll be great for summer here. I seldom gravitate to boho styles, but this pretty skirt is stunning. Here’s more that caught my eye…

  • NORDSTROM has its spring sale on, plus they’re price-matching, which happens all the time. This guarantees that you always get the lowest price at Nordstrom! This is how I snagged my latest pair of Paul Green sneakers on sale. Here’s what I found in their limited-time sale this week…

  • BODEN has up to 50% off. Boden is a great resource for you ladies who need petite fashion.

  • LOFT has its Hello Spring event with 40% off plus free shipping.

  1. Great post Jennifer! I’m catching up after a brain tumor surgery on Tuesday. Your trip to Mexico sounded lovely. I used to buy a lot from Soft Surroundings and don’t know why I stopped. I broke down and ordered the Zuvi hair dryer that you’ve been tempting me with, with their sale and your discount, (thank you!) I have naturally curly hair which tends to get frizzy. If my husband says anything I’ll just pass it off as not being in my right mind!

    1. Omg, I’m so sorry!! I’m glad you’re on the other side of it. Thank goodness you’re well. I love your sense of humor!! Xx

  2. That Portia skirt is what I mean by “restrained boho.” It’s a neutral color, tone on tone embroidery and multiple texture elements. It doesn’t scream “Here comes BOHO” but it’s got the vibe. Right up my alley.

    1. I really like it too! I thought of your comment when I found it.

  3. I love all your suggestions but I have a question for you. I love hats but whenever I wear one it flattens any volume I might have on the top and sides of my head. Once I have it on I’m very reluctant to take it off with the unattractive “ hat hair”. So I have to wear the hat the entire day, inside and outside. Granted, I have a short hair style so I really need height on top and sides to to balance out my look. But even those with longer hair must have a version of this problem How do you avoid it? Thanks.

    1. I leave my hat on but if I have to remove it, I just put up with the flatness.

  4. Jennifer, if I may respectfully disagree a little as I am a couple of inches shorter than you are … Boden has a good range of Petite pants, but they do not have many tops for petite women. Yes, a number of tops are shorter, but the long sleeve tops are still too long for most short women (with shorter arms), and the shoulders can be too wide. I buy from Boden for quality and sustainable fashion, but Talbots and AT, in particular, have far more Petite clothing.

    1. Thanks for sharing Maeve. Getting the right fit is so hard!

  5. Lenora Holmsten says:

What do you think of Perricone MD products? They’re expensive but I’ve been seeing some good reviews. I’m 66 yo and always looking for things to minimize wrinkles (if any really exists).

    1. To be honest, I haven’t tried it but I do have a friend who swears by his products.

  6. Love all the sale items you listed! Here in the northwest our weather has been all over the place. We had summer for a week and then snow and now finally back to Spring 🌼

    1. I’m heading in your direction next week and hoping for spring but will pack for everything.
